Lich being srange

Sorry I meant to say lich is acting strange, not being srange in the title. So I just returned after a few years away and followed the install instruction on lichproject.org for windows+stormfront. Anyway everything connects up and I can launch the game. I can look and the room info loads etc. But when I try and unpause the updater in locks everything up... Any ideas?

Mine did that too when I first logged on. I just closed out, restarted the game without lich via the website, used quit to log off there. Then started up again with lich and it worked. Don't forget to ;updater update forcemap aswell.

Ok so that worked for all of five minutes LOL. I typed ;repo and nothing happened then look and all normal game commands no longer worked either.

When you logged in via the website, did you use the same client(SF/Wizard) you use with Lich?

Yup I sure did.

it worked long enough for the updates to work. If i login with Lich and do not send any lich ";" commands I can do things like look and get things from my inventory. Once I send something like ";list"... it all locks up.

I could really use some help if anyone has any ideas. I have uninstalled Lich, GameLauncher, Stormfront and reinstalled following the directions and am having the same issue. Game comes up but as soon as I attempt a lich command of any kind ";anything", I get locked up and con do nothing.

I tried renaming the scripts directory and once I did that it seemed everything was working correctly. Now I do not have any script except what comes with the lich install. So it seems odd to me that it's having some kind of an issue with one of them. If rename the directory back to scripts it locks up again as soon as I do any lich command.

Ok just to keep anyone who thinks they can help me up to date... I have followed the install directions on a completely separate laptop I have running windows 7 and the exact same issue exists.

This might sound silly, but what town are you in? Are you starting with a fresh rolled character?

I'm pretty sure a handful of rooms in a specific area are "bugged" for Lich's purposes, but I don't want to give out too much information if it doesn't apply to your situation.

Not a fresh character and I am in Niima's Shrine in the Rest.

rubyw.exe is also taking up 50% of my CPU just an FWI

yeah it has to be hung in some kind of loop or something. I just launched it again and am letting it sit while watching the CPU. about 5 minutes or so bouncing from 50% all the way to mid 80%. Stormfront is staying low but rubyw is sucking up the resources.

ok so after a good 20 minutes of not sending the game/lich anything except the look command to not timeout, lnet started pounding out a ton of lines. After that it seems things are working well. I will post if the problem returns on the next game start up

You PROBABLY saw a holdup from all the map downloads and stuff like that. It takes some time and system resources. If the Lich server is "busy" it might take longer than expected... Good luck with everything, hope it all goes smooth for ya for now on. One thing I'll say is that SF tends to have more "random lag" than WizFE. If you don't need the added features of SF, dump it for WizFE. In my world of 24/7 scripting in Shattered, SF just isn't acceptable.
