EMPTY Verb Bug Fix · on 7/20/2004 10:24:07 PM 749

Certain items are no longer empty-able (such as silver coins or other items that have special handling for getting or dropping them). Previously, the EMPTY verb was allowing players to bypass certain systems (most significantly, pickpockets and various silver confiscating/tracking systems) in a manner contrary to those system's designs. This change is intended to fix that oversight.

The bug that existed the first day it came out was cooler. It didn't take into account the size of the container you were emptying into, so you could empty cloak full of plate into, for example, a sheath.

what was the deal with this verb and pickpockets?

I'm guessing put 1k into a coin pouch, then empty the coin pouch into something else, then fill the pouch again, then empty, etc. Close whatever container the coins are in and they can't steal them. Though...that seems like more work than just going to the bank and typing deposit all.

You could empty a chest (with 1 coin or 30000 coins in it) into your cloak, and the coins were unstealable.
