Empath training & stat recommendations

Anyone have any training & stat placement recommendations for a runestave empath?

Do you intend on mainly hunting, healing, or is it mixed pretty evenly?

Also, what race are you and what armor would you like to train for?

Half-Elf
Healing mainly, but I want to be able to have the option of hunting when the mood strikes (which is often)
What is it that empaths go for nowadays? Double? I imagine double leather or brig max, but am option to suggestions.

At 91 I bolt (111) at 439 and my empath circle CS is 429. It would be tougher these days in lower levels but everything but CO and AGL will max by 100.

You might want a bit more transformation lore to get the healing RT's down. I'm training in manipulation for Bone Shatter.

I'm just curious why you guys do mental mana control already? Is it just for magical ranks, or is there another benefit?

Not to hijack this thread, but with my empath I've jumped training from runestaff to ranged and back to blade/shield...

With spells he has no trouble surviving in OTF as long as a Seer doesnt dispell him, but I'm regretting reducing the spell aiming that I traded off to overtrain in empath spells to get my CS where he could channel as few casts as possible at Ithizir.

Here's my question.
Exactly how much a difference in DS is there (baseline) between a staff user (empath) thats appropriately trained and a blade/shield user user that still uses boneshatter as its primary offensive weapon?

I ran out of testing time with all of my research on my other characters and I do not want to waste my next fixskills option. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Mine's for ranks, and because I know I'll have to train in it anyway eventually.

I dont know the exact numbers Ganalon but my empath is trained in brawl/shield using bone shatter as my primary attack, doing great in OTF (except when I'm vaporized) :(
I tried runestaff training but there was a dramatic difference in DS, enough to make it hard to hunt. I had to sacrafice spell aim and a little CS so I could train up for brig but defense wise I am so much happier now. Im fussy though, I don't like to come back from a hunt with any wounds, I'd rather have enough DS and avoid minor wounds. :)

At 93 my DS can get as high as 610 in guarded resisting an open attack and the DS pushdown to 465 when ambushed... with 401, 406, 414, 503, 911, and colors (611?), a statue, 103, 202, 102, 1109, 1119, 1130. Thats using a 5x shield, and an ebladed dagger (4x).

I'm curious if a staff user has a comparible defense with those spels... from an open attack and from being ambushed (in guarded stance). Oh, I also need to add 41 ranks in CM to that equation.

For RP purposes I'd rather use a runestaff, as well as for look and the ability to train more in magic skills but I just dont want to sacrifice the ability to hunt effectively.

I'll just have to bug Nakiro I guess and see how he resists the attacks while he's out there.

I train in share just for the cheap mental ranks. Plus I actually use it on occasion.

A bent being, was some kind of major ewave that vaporized me. I hate those things.
