This is so confusing....
I was in the first room past the rolaren gate, and went to swing at a manticore in offensive stance, this happens

You make a simple motion, quietly invoking the Camouflage spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture.
You blend into invisibility among the surroundings.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
>The arctic manticore sniffs around looking for something.
Your injuries hinder your attempts to remain unseen.
>ambush mant left legYou leap from hiding to attack!
You swing a black acid-pitted warsword at an arctic manticore!
AS: +111 vs DS: +155 with AvD: +29 + d100 roll: +1 = -14
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 6 sec.

>stance defensive...wait 1 seconds.
>stance defensive
You are now in a defensive stance.

Obviously something is wrong, my AS is way too low.
So I stepped outside the gate just to make sure everything was in order. I had a minour leg wound but that was it, my sword was in my right hand, I gripped twice just to make sure it was set to two handed, and I hit defensive again. Everything was normal. So I got back through the gate, the instant I get in, this happens.

>
An arctic manticore tries to bite you!
AS: +194 vs DS: +157 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +66 = +127
... and hits for 13 points of damage!
Jarring blow to your back.

The manticore's attack chills you!
... 30 points of damage!
Ouch! Slivers of ice in the strike easily penetrate to your spine.
You are stunned for 6 rounds!
>close gate
You are still stunned.
>
An arctic manticore tries to bite you!
AS: +194 vs DS: +134 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +27 = +111
... and hits for 4 points of damage!
Quick feint to your right foot.
Little extra damage.
>e
You are still stunned.
>e
You are still stunned.
>e
An arctic manticore tries to bite you!
AS: +194 vs DS: +134 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +90 = +174
... and hits for 37 points of damage!
Strike pierces thigh!
You are knocked to the ground!
>
You are still stunned.
>stand
You are still stunned.
>stand
You are still stunned.
>stand
You are still stunned.
>stand
You are still stunned.
>
An arctic manticore tries to bite you!
AS: +194 vs DS: +92 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +75 = +201
... and hits for 58 points of damage!
Whoosh! Several ribs driven into your lungs.
You return to normal color.
The powerful look leaves you.
You feel the inner strength leave you.
The buzz of thoughts in your mind subsides.
You feel your extra strength departing.
The air about you stops shimmering.
The light blue glow leaves you.
You feel the aura of confidence leave you.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around you.
You no longer feel so dextrous.

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.

...departing in 14 mins...
The arctic manticore screams in vicious delight!
>
The Chivalrous disk disintegrates, dropping everything on the ground.
>
* Chivalrous just bit the dust!

My DS should be about 330 with those spells on. My offensive DS should be about 175-180.

This happened to me earlier for a second in artic mants and I just walked back to town and when I came back it was fixed. Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?

your shield

and water lore

I know encumbrance hinders your DS... probably your AS too.

Don't carry a shield, 2 handed user. Don't know what you mean about water lore. Was unencumbered.

And just so no one thinks I'm going crazy, here's a snippet from about 30 seconds earlier:

>stance offensiveYou are now in an offensive stance.
>ambush mant left legYou leap from hiding to attack!
You swing a black acid-pitted warsword at an arctic manticore!
AS: +81 vs DS: +150 with AvD: +29 + d100 roll: +9 = -31
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 6 sec.
>An arctic manticore tries to bite Parro!
AS: +194 vs DS: +87 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +25 = +156
... and hits for 16 points of damage!
Minor puncture to the left leg.

A: My offensive AS is quite a bit higher than that

B: Parro's offensive DS is much higher than that (he wasn't stunned or anything)

It'd have to be the whole lower floor area I suppose but that's all I can figure right now. I didn't notice any loss in spirit, Chiv's in voln so he never uses it himself and I'm fairly sure mants don't steal spirit (No messaging about it at least)

Right now I'm just chalking it up to weirdness, unless someone has an idea.

There's also a great chance that GS might have bugs/flaws...maybe ask a GM sometime...if ya don't figure it out eventually.

Next time it happens, try an ASSIST and let a GameHost take a look. If they can't spot the problem, they can ask a GameMaster to take a look. If there's a problem, the GM can help you get it fixed. If it's a "feature", they can explain it to you, if it's something they're allowed to explain. ;)

Try gripping the bastardsword once, just to be sure.

Area affects (such as light and darkness) might be coming into play there. Some rooms have them come and go naturally.

My idea is that either a) you had your twohander in the left hand or b) you had it in the correct hand, but had something else (gem, leaf, imbed, somebody's head, whatever) in your off-hand.

That would account for both the AS and DS loss. If you are absolutely sure neither of those things happened, I'm at a loss.

Well, I found out. It turns out that if you take out a bastard sword with something in your hand it defaults to one handed grip, since I never have occasion to put my sword away in combat I've never had the problem before but I had to bundle some leaf right before this happened and I didn't put the bundle away before I took my sword back out.

How did you find the answer, Drew?
