an old spiked vultite metal breastplate

The first thing that strikes you about the breastplate is the weight, which is about 18 pounds. In your best estimation, it's worth about 1,200,000 silvers. You can also tell that there is some type of metal in the structure of the vultite metal breastplate.

You sense a faint aura of magic around the vultite metal breastplate. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the breastplate is as some type of defensive garment. It also appears to have a temporary modification of some kind.

It has a bonus of +20 from a normal breastplate, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it is plate armor. It also has some type of special ability, but you can't tell what yet. The vultite metal breastplate seems to have some sort of unusual protection against damage.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the vultite metal breastplate in your hand...

The harmonics generated tell you that the breastplate serves to protect from magical attacks.

The breastplate resonates with your voice, revealing some details of its temporary enhancement:
The breastplate's enhancement will degrade when the wearer is struck in combat.
It should be able to withstand an incredible amount of uses before its enhancement has completely degraded away.
When its enhancement has degraded away, the item will simply return to normal.

As your song penetrates the vultite metal breastplate, you determine that it is slightly resistant to fiery attacks.

CS: +340 - TD: +112 + CvA: +25 + d100: +6 - -5 == +264
Your victim works his way into an old spiked vultite metal breastplate.
CS: +340 - TD: +116 + CvA: -18 + d100: +12 - -5 == +223

I still can't tell which of those two things is the temporary benefit. The TD boost or the slight resistance to fiery attacks? Even after singing to crap all the time, there's nothing (to me) to indicate which is which. I'd assume the resistance is temp. Fuck if I know for sure.

The language of the song seems to indicate that it's the resistance that will degrade, while the TD boost remains. The reason I say that is because the song says:

Striking the wearer in combat wouldn't (or shouldn't?) affect the TD boost. But assuming the fire resistance works the same way ranger resistance works, then it makes sense that taking damage would degrade the fire resistance.

Hrmm, does it? See, I'd think either can be struck. Certainly magic spells strike a character as much as a blow does. It has something to do with the order the information is presented via the song. I just don't know if it regards the special ability or the line after, which is the resistance. Actually, come to think of it, resistance is almost always listed after the temp statement in loresongs. These sorts of resistances even confuse GMs. Kupaka had a set of brig he had me sing to because the GM and he couldn't figure out which line was the temp and which wasn't.

Temp TD sings as degrading when struck.

Blame lack of decent/updated loresong code.
