I caught a tiny bit of the season 2 marathon today on AMC. Addicting. I saw the trailer for season 3 too. This show seems good enough that I could start watching it anywhere in any episode of any season and still enjoy it 100 percent.
Off to a great start! Nice way to frame the season. They really do a good job with this show and capturing all the old classic elements.
MILD SPOILERS
Ok, classic zombie moments... they are clearing the hallways and everything seems clear then all of a sudden they all come out from every direction! LOL. And whats this zombie playing dead then munching on the old man's leg?
They let the little kid headshot zombies? Harsh.

I have a question. If all of humanity has the zombie virus, as was alluded to at the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 3. Why would a non-fatal bite from an infected individual cause a transformation to zombie? And I don't want to hear any mumbo-jumbo about zombies spreading a second biological compound that activates the virus within the bitten individual.
Are zombies just like komodo dragons and carry a menagerie of harmful bacteria that even the slightest bite would kill an individual? I mean if that's the case, being drooled on would do the same.

No, the evolution of a virus that developed a mutualist relationship with a second virus is pretty far fetched. Viruses mutate pretty damn fast, it would statistically improbable for two viruses to develop at the same time utilizing the same host but required the presence of each other.
My comment about the mortality rate of bites was a mutually exclusive thought.
There is evidence of parisitisitic fungi and wasps inducing zombie-like behavior in their relative host species. So pump the brakes on the sarcasm there, Guillermo.

Everyone turns into a zombie when they die. (I'm adding this parenthetical to really emphasize this point. There is no virus that turns a living person into a zombie. Everyone has the same virus, and it turns dead people into zombies. They have to die first. Every time.) They die from zombie bites/scratches because zombies are walking fucking bacteria.
I mean if that's the case, being drooled on would do the same.Being drooled on by a person with HIV won't kill you.

Seems legit. Worked for Magic Johnson.
That scene in 28 Days where that one tiny little drop of blood fell in that guys eye would have me running around in a full hazmat suit regardless. In the Walking Dead world you can run around covered in zombie juice and you'll be fine... until they bitecha!

If you have any open sores superficially, or in your mouth, you are in danger of contraction. And Bob, HIV is not fatal. It's allows other things to kill you.

He is saying the zombie bite doesn't turn you into a zombie, but it kills you due to you being bitten by a corpse full of bacterias. Also, I think pretty much every time we've seen someone get killed by a zombie in this show, they were straight up KILLED. Like, in a way that would have killed anyone.
As for the first show, it didn't seem to get good, IMO, until the last 10 minutes. I found it a bit weak for a season premiere.

There was definitely someone in the first season who just got a scratch or small bite or something and ended up with a massive fever which he died from. I remember them leaving him sitting by the side of the highway as they carried on.

Well, judging by what happened at the end there, it should be more clear soon as to whether it's just the bacteria that gets into your blood after being bitten by a walking ball of rot and decay that kills people. Also, that bugged me, because who is going to survive the zombie apocalypse for that long and still be stepping over bodies instead of going around them when there is room, or even leaving ANY body with it's head intact? Every corpse I came across would be getting a chop.
But here's my real question. After they cleared the outer areas, and before they went into the prison itself, why the flipping flying fuck did nobody clean and put on any of the full riot gear they found? I would have been wearing that for the rest of my life.

Yeah, I didn't get that either. It was predictable as hell, too. I could maybe let them get away with some crap about it being in some semi-dormant state or somethin due to lack of food, but since none of the other zombies seemed to have that problem, it doesn't work.

There was a guy in season 1 who got bitten, tried to hide it, and eventually asked to be left behind to die alone.
Zombie slaves are Michonne's boyfriend and his best friend, she believes that having them along with her keeps other zombies from attacking her.
The differences between why some zombies roam, some just stay in one area, and why some appear to be weakening is explored in the comics, not sure if the TV series will follow the same strategy or not as the character who is most interested in the various aspects of the zombies for scientific purposes has yet to be introduced on the show.

You know, I'm not sure about Walking Dead's undead theory of zombies... I think they will eventually "die" on their own though. Severe head trauma kills them, so I imagine the gradual decay of their head does the same.
Slightly over 100 issues of the comics have encompassed a 2 year RL span. They have said that the show will progress much faster, in no small part due to the fact that the actors (especially the child actors) will age too fast to not speed up the timeline.

This is the best show ever, and the makeup people should win every award that applies to them.
The guy that plays Daryl Dixon should also win the win award.
What didn't make sense in this episode is Hershel stayed behind when they were clearing the outside of the prison in broad daylight, but they somehow decided that he could handle going into the depths of the prison having no idea what they'd find and only having flashlights to see anything.
Seems legit to me.
Also was it just me or did zombie Sophia on season 2 look a few years older than living Sophia?

Thanks to you I have now spent far too much time thinking about the zombie gastrointestinal process. No mess? Don't zombies defecate? Wouldn't they have to? I mean where do the brains and miscellaneous chunks of devoured human flesh go anyway?

From the Zombie Survival Guide:
I. Digestion
Recent evidence has once and for all discounted the theory that human flesh is the fuel for the undead. A zombie's digestive tract is completely dormant. The complex system that processes food, extracts nutrition, and excretes waste does not factor into a zombie's physiology. Autopsies conducted on neurtralized undead have shown that their "food" lies in its original, undigested state at all sections of the tract. This partially chewed, slowly rotting matter will continue to accumulate, as the zombie devours more victims, until it is forced the the anus, or literally bursts through the stomach or intestinal lining. While this more dramatic example of non-digestion is rare, hundreds of eyewitness reports have confirmed undead to have distended bellies. One captured and dissected specimen was found to contain 211 pounds of flesh within its system! Even rarer accounts have confirmed that zombies continue to feed long after their digestive tracts have exploded from within.

SPOILERS BELOW: I kind of figured this whole thread is one big spoiler warning but just in case....
This show is getting kind of stupid now. What with the governor being some kind of super hero with his ability to bullshit anyone into believing what he says no matter how much evidence points to the contrary, to him being able to fend off over 20 zombies who are right on his ass, to him escaping all of that and catching up to Andrea at the very last fucking second without Andrea realizing he's right on her ass, to him being able to subdue her and get her back to the truck without the zombies getting them and without Andrea making any noise at all to alert Rick who is just over the fence...come on.
Other than the whole zombies exist thing this show has been pretty realistic and kept me thinking "I wonder what will happen next...". It's so stupid knowing no matter what evidence a group of people with morals finds out about the governor that he is able to talk to them for 30 seconds to get them to think "OHHHH! He's alright after all!" And Andrea being caught at the very last second? Gee, who saw that coming when she started to approach the prison.

Haha that Governor guy is straight up psycho! It blew my mind when he started playing music and got his zombie daughter out of the wall to play with a few episodes ago. You do point out an interesting aspect about that character. All along he has seemed legit but now its obvious he totally lost his shit a long time ago and has been able to mask it up. At least to the other characters on the show.

Also, never trust a zombie to do your work. I mean, seriously. I'm pretty sure Four Eyes is going to figure out Andrea is in the room from the vent upstairs, but seriously, he's the one who should jack the Gov'r.

There were so many fails in this episode. Andrea could have just pushed the guy out of the way and shot the governor. That assistant guy could have sabotaged so much more than just burning a few zombies, Andrea could have slashed the tires on the governor's truck before she left, you know, just on the off chance he survives.
I don't like that guy and his son, I have a strange feeling one of them is going to shoot someone important. But not the governor of course, he's a good guy.

SPOILERS.
It all seemed kind of forced to me, like they didn't realize this had to be the last episode of the season until they started writing it. 30 or so people run away from 2 people shooting at them, super governor manages to kill said 30 armed people without a single person taking a shot at him. Andrea, who has survived a super explosion at the CDC, survived 9 months on the road with Michonne, survived the trip to the prison twice on her own (and the trip back once on her own), is killed by a lone zombie who she knows a full 30 minutes in advance is going to attack her.
Everyone celebrating and proclaiming "We won!" even though they didn't kill a single person. Also why did everyone head to the prison? Wouldn't it make more sense if everyone headed to Woodbury?
I loved seasons 1 and 2 and most of 3 but it got kind of stupid towards the end there. Hopefully season 4 picks it up again.

These weren't trained fighters. They were your average citizen who'd been living in relative comfort of this city for a long time now. It was dark, loud and confusing inside the prison. The Governor built up the people at the prison as these big evil monsters who slaughtered a bunch of their people. It's understandable.
Andrea is just retarded. Her character has been retarded for several seasons now. I am glad she is gone. It's not the first stupid thing she has done.
And they probably didn't go to Woodbury because the prison is more easily defended with a small number of people (remember the only real people left in Woodbury were old people, some children and Tyreese and his sister/girlfriend/whatever she was). Also, if there are secret ways in and out and hidden traps, the Governor would know about them and Rick and Co. wouldn't. Not to mention, Woodbury is barricaded with tires and vehicles, it's not all that secure really.

Also, I like how Andrea's last words are "I tried," and people fucking APPEASED HER. I almost yelled at the tv. You didn't do shit, lady, you were sleeping with the super villain and had multiple opportunities to take him out and you didn't. Even the right hand Mexican dude knows he's evil now, GG.
I'm just mind-fucked at how clueless all these people are. Oh, the governor riled them up by saying they killed 8 of our men at the handoff? Should have been 2 hours long to start, so there'd be more than 2 minutes of fighting after all that buildup.
Everything about Andrea being fail has already been said.
The dumbass that drew on governor and then stood there and let governor shoot him in the head in a not so quick fashion, despite him being an insignificant character, was the dumbest part of the whole episode.

Terrible, terrible finale. Andrea, why so stupid?! She had plenty of time to escape once she knew about the pliers yet kept stopping to talk to the dude that she knew was going to be turning into a zombie soon.

I think we can all take from this that TheE is not going to last long in the zombie apocalypse.

This is all dependent on the breakdown of society into anarchic tribal warbands.
