View Full Version : WTF is this thingy?
A wind wraith claws at Taldorian!
AS: +312 vs DS: +180 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +72 = +239
... and hits for 48 points of damage!
Whoosh! Several ribs driven into lungs.
Dark shadowy tendrils swirl languidly around Taldorian.
The shadowy tendrils begin to swirl faster and faster until they are just a blurred haze of fast moving darkness.
... 40 points of damage!
Lucky shot severs left hand and sends it flying.
... 60 points of damage!
Neck removed, head falls to the ground.
* Taldorian drops dead at your feet!
I have never seen wraiths do this ever, and I've been hit by them hard. Is this some new kind of thing, and how do I avoid it?

did he piss a gm off?
I've never seen a wraith do that either. if that works like it looks like it does, that'd be pretty deadly for us squares who expect to get hit
We were just hunting and it got in a hard hit and did that weird shadowy shit. :?:

Is that what happens when you get fucked up by your own Cloak of Shadows?

Isnt that uh the same damage we see from those Shadow Daggers? All the same it would appear Wind Wraiths arent much of a joke anymore if they have that.

Only place I have hunted them is on Teras. Who do you play there, Stanley?

They're in Luukos' temple on Teras.

They're in Luukos' temple on Teras.
They are in the wind tunnel on the way to Luukos' Temple. The actual Temple is occupied by Soul Golems.
Unless it has changed in the past month or so Stanley is the player of Hammerrhead.
As for the odd occurance, it looks to be the spell Cloak of Shadows on Taldorian that went wrong. Not enough lore training to control the spell he incanted with CoS maybe. It was definately not cast by the Wraith though. There was no warding roll and Wraiths dont use a weapon so there would be extra damage unless their claws are special.
Dark shadowy tendrils swirl languidly around Taldorian.
Can a sorcerer confirm it for me that that is the messaging for the spell cloak of shadows when the sorcerer is hit?

Its been a while since I've seen it, but If I remember right, it says something about the "demon" lashing back at you in anger..I think.

Ill head back to Teras and check it out then. I havent really felt like playing much lately but this actually gives me a reason to travel back so I can hunt again.

He was probably just knocked over by the wind and stunned.
I've killed many many wraiths and never seen that before.
The shadows only come to your aid when stunned.. so that would be my guess also.
