i was wondering if anybody did this. ive been hunting in leather breastplate (not even yet fully trained to take hinderance down to 5%) and i havent really noticed any significant drop in failed casts compared to double. ok i know that 5% will result in more failed casts compared to 2% if you were going to cast 1000 times, but seriously 3% isnt that much. leather breastplate is 20 armor ranks for 5% hinderance, and ive noticed i have plenty of TP to do it, any thoughts?

There are definitely a few. I could be wrong, but maybe Evarin was in higher than doubles? If he was, he can chime in.
You have to expect, however, that the improved armor will result in more moments when, without that cast, you could be in serious danger, especially if you hunt a hunting ground where disabling is a must. If Doubles offer about a 97.02 success rate (1% fumble, 2% hindrance), you would be closer to 94.05% . . . so about 1 in 17 casts will fail, compared to about 1 in 33. If thats acceptable to you, then by all means, you will likely be a good bit more durable for it.
I know I can't go above full leathers, I hate hindrance. The 1% fumble rate practically drives me insane already.

Pretty sure Queleri hunts in LBP.

Well, I'm not exactly a pure, or a sorcerer, but I felt I'd chime in here as well as a wizard...
Leather Breastplate is nice and all, but I always found myself dying to head/neck shots, and the removal of limbs to be an absolute pain. Unless I'm mistaken, leather breastplate only offers superior defense on the torso over double leathers. If you're 1x PF, I've personally found myself not dying to chest/ab/back crits.
Now, if you have a nice set of leather breast plate... by all means, use what you have, I'd almost say to take the best deal on armor you can get and use it.

no hinderance > better protection. Only reason Evarin use brigandine was because he had an exceptionally nice set

I agree with this. I hunt in 7x HCP doubles and I don't mind the hindrance in exchange for the high ET and the padding. But if I didn't have those, I'd be in fulls.

yea i can see what you mean. seems as soon as I said something the hindrance kicked in. granted im not fully trained for lbp and i noticed a LOT of fails that would not have happened if I was, definately seems like something much more viable when you are older and have mana to spare. thanks for the replies

My sorc hunts in brig, BUT he is a mutant, weapon swinging sorc. Also has very good access to a paladin with 3 ranks of armored fluidity. Hindrance with teh fluidity is at 8% for sorc spells.
I would not recommend it for anyone who hunts with spells as their primary attack.
