Well, ranged has finally pissed me off enough that I'm switching. Unfortunately, no Fixskills left, so I'll be doing it the slow way and don't want to fuck up. Advice plz.
Str 75
Con 70
Dex 80
Agl 80
Dis 70
Aur 70
Log 75
Int 40
Wis 60
Inf 40
2x 2HW
2x Ambush
2x Dodging
2x Stalking and Hiding
1.5x CM
1.5x PF
1x Perception
1x armor to 30
20 ranks Arcane Symbols
10 ranks of Climbing
10 ranks of Swimming
5 ranks of spells
3 ranks of harness power
After 30, I'm stopping armor and not training climbing, swimming, or AS, so I'll have a bunch more points to put into PF and spells. Tsoran's spreadsheet says I'll have ~11% redux.
Looks good. I have picking skills with mine, but with those skills you'll be able to hunt fine.

Picking's fun, but I can probably get it easy enough and for free that it's not really important. I wish I could figure out a way to get 1 more spell rank, but it's just not working.

That plan sucks. There will only ever be one true 2HW wielding rogue. Don't bother either if you have a shitty two hander too. You lack the DS or the fortitude to take harder shots.

WTF's wrong with it?
As for two handers, I'm looking for a 6x greatsword. You know, if you have one you want to sell.

A few personal thoughts...
I had a 2HW Rogue back in GS3, and had a blast!
But, I'd stick to the faster 2 handers. Bastard swords, being the key IMO.
Also, why only 10 ranks of climb/swim? Your gonna need a lot more then that, they are putting climb/swim restrictions in a lot of places as of late.

10'll get you most places around 30. Since I'll stop doing armor, I'll have a bunch of extra points to toss back into climbing and swimming after 30.

Ah, ok. I saw "I'm not going to train in climb/swim" was like.. WTF?!
;)
The bonus, as your training, you won't have the extra weight of 4-5 picks, a kit, and normally a container to hold them all. So, having two different weapon types on you would be great. A claid for animal based critters (they all have a huge perception for their age..which makes it hard to hide.), and like I mentioned before, a bastard sword for ambushing.

I also get to get rid of this bow and quiver. Yay.

Mind if I ask why your dumping ranged? I've got a rogue I'm still fighting with myself on training. I had him Ranged once, and loved it (was huntin like a mad man), but I also wanna do a "dagger expert" RP set up, using gambits and thrown/edged training. Can't deside which.

Can't kill things in higher armor (without doing like 10 shots) and higher chance of evasion (arrow flies wide, sails away never to be seen again!). I also suck if I can't get eblade, and hate waiting for eblade scrolls to hunt.

....Hmm, odd. My rogue was 15. Trained non-picking archer. He was fully trained for brig, and fully trained for archer (2x ranged, 2x ambush, 2x perception, 2x PT, etc etc). He had 4 spells at level 15, and he was killing Wall Guardians, who wear full chain armor. I always aimed for the eyes, and killed first shot like 90% of the time. The older critters just get insaine?

Perhaps. I don't have much of a problem with chain, but MBP and higher are a pain in the ass.

Heh, yeah, guy offered it to me earlier. I don't really care about blessable though, and I could get basically the same thing for less. I also heard someone was selling a +18 incredibly damage weighted maul for 3 million, I'm wondering if that's what I should get.

Ranged is just less efficient than pretty much any other training method. The weapon selection is considerably worse. Sniping is a lot more difficult than it used to be. It's slower, unless you're a Giant. Good luck killing things like constructs (though I didn't have any problems at all using archery against Illoke).
THW is nice, but once you get to a certain level it's just no necessary. I can clear a room of things faster than a THW rogue my level, pick, and (were I to drop a bit of CM) e-wave. Sure, you do more damage, but 100 damage or 40 damage, a death crit is a death crit.

I'm sure once I get to that level, I'll have at least one more fixskills.

Yeh..Thats the main reason why I dumped my THW Rogue in GS3. He ambushed with a claidhmore..and it was just overkill. I could do the same with a short sword and in less round time.
Now in GS4, that claid ambush is more appealing. heh.

Who's the true twohanded weapon using rogue?
Edaarin
07-15-2004, 05:59 PM
I can't think of many who used two handed weapons from level 0 and got to any significant level. Rhys' rogue, who I think is like level 40, is the only one that comes to mind.
