I was a warmage and got bored. Now I fixskilled to an enchanting focused pure. I realize my training path is not perfect for hunting, as the extra points in AS/MIU could be used for fire lore or elsewhere. However, I will be enchanting alot with this toon, and can get spellup assistance from my main.

My questions are: Where should I hunt at level 22 (near the landing, loot does not matter just frying)? And does anyone have a "guide to being a wizard" for one who has grown up swinging until now?

Some info:

Also: what spells are required for hunting when spelling up?

Here is my current thoughts:

503
507
508
513
520

401
406
414
425
430

905

If you go to KP and look up "MjE", "MnE", and "Wizard Base." The articles have a breakdown of types of spells. Should be easy to see what's what. Your skills are pretty much fine.

Spell ranks: 1x MjE, 1x MnE, wizard base gets the rest. 505 is a great setup spell (air lore). My answer to "where should I hunt my bolt wizard?" is always "wherever you want." Wizards can wreck basically everything in this game. Since you don't have 425 yet, you may want to hunt stuff in as low of armor as possible. If you look through old wizard threads here, you'll see the exact same 5-10 comments in every thread. They're probably the most straight forward profession there is.

OK thanks for the tips. So basic process for finding a hunting are:

1. Find something around my level in the area i want to hunt in.
2. Find out what elements they are weak to.
3. For now since i'm low level, use the lowest bolt spell I have of that element type.

What about mana, some of these bolts are kind of expensive, how will I fry solo? I am a COL master, but wont wracking lower my spell AS?

At lvl 22:

Go to Castle Anwyn
Hunt Arch Wights
Use 904 (Minor Acid)
Profit

By using spells that don't eat too much mana early on for starters. Try to stick with 904, which is a pretty good all around spell. Once your mana pool grows you can start tossing minor fire around more often.

Also, Mana Leech. Learn about it, macro it, and be prepared to use it forever.

For early levels, taking that MIU/AS to 1x and dumping points into Harness overtraining will buy you some more casts during your hunts.

Harness power: I train 1.5x until 40, then allow the training to cool off to 1x (60 ranks level 40-60)
Mana leech: Since you don't have 425, your CS will be low. Find a low-level caster creatures in the area. During your hunt, run over to their area leech them, then go back to your hunt.

It may seem a little tedious levels 0-30ish but keep in mind that your hunts won't really last more than 5 min from level 30ish to cap (~3min is a routine wizard hunt for me).
