View Full Version : Why it sucks to be high trains

Because if people half your train pick a fight with you and get really nasty, I mean verbally, you know that no matter what you can't do a thing to them as an attack or else they'll cry that you were abusing your trains. Not saying it's bad to talk things out, just can get a little annoying knowing that you can't do anything else.

Are you seeking attention and praise because of your high level?
Congratulations!
"You are a unique and valuable person, no matter what. No error in judgment,
no embarrassment, no pain, no setback can take away the inherent value of who you are and who you can be." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Your signature is really ironic, because that definitely does not apply to you.

Umm, no one has ever accused me of abusing my levels.
And I kicked quite a few people in the groin in the last few days.
What is stoping you from using your skills if talking it out doesn't work? Your conviction? If so, scrap that. If you have to take it to the next level and use your skills to put the smack down on a younger trained character, do it. They might yell abuse, but all too often if they know they are inciting you to want to take it to that level, you'd be well within your right. As long as youve roleplayed the situation as best you can I don't see a problem.

Um no cause i'm not that old. But I am a deal older than them. Seriously Longshot, take a deep breath and stop trying to insult me every chance you'd get and you realize that I'm not doing anything wrong. What is wrong with you?
They were rat hunters so obviously anyone is older than them. But were they ever annoying... I just figured if I did anything they'd yell, cause that's how they seemed, and then the GMs would be mad over it.

Just kill them like 3 people here do all the time, not like it means shit (to you -- no warning, to them -- minor inconvience). Hell, there are many young males here you can emulate and the tell them how your RP PWNED them and JOO are the shiznit.
I say that tongue in cheek. Not all conflict needs to end in a death.

Well what was happening was it was mostly one guy picking a fight with us and then he had a girl supporting him for some reason. Once he left and I offered her spells despite the fact she had been insulting us, she cooled off and left us alone. I didn't want any fighting, I wanted to play my spider solitaire in peace. But by the time he was getting really insulting I just wanted to stun him and shut him up.

Your definition of high trains and anyone else's are probably different. In my opinion, if you're not over 90, you aren't classified as "high training".
GSLeloo
07-15-2004, 12:26 PM
I'm not over 90. I more meant a signifcant difference between you and the other person. Meaning so much older there's no way they could ever hurt you. I'm no where near 90 so I wasn't in any way "flaunting" my trains, almost everyone on here could kill me.

Not me:rant:
But if you dont chase them and repeatedly stun or kill them, if the other person initiates a conflict, at least a stun seems appropriate.

You're a sorcerer. If anyone gives you lip, start removing limbs and laughing as they get pummeled to death and you're screaming "Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself!"

If you want to see him get riled up, tell Soulpieced you've been playing since Prodigy days!
On a serious note you need to stop worrying about what GM's will do. There aren't many circumstances that merit GM intervention unless you've marked yourself out as a source of idiocy and game disruption.

 Artha, that's really funny. The room was sanct anyway. I still could've webbed them or something but I figured if I did they'd go "you're a bully abusing your trains blah blah blah"

Who cares what they say? Chances are, the character'll be gone in a few weeks anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I don't know, from the way they acted I have a feeling it was someone who already plays GS and they made a new character. So they're probably going to be sticking around.

I don't care. If a person wants to "RP" an ass, they need to deal with the consequences. That said, I don't immediately start swinging the minute they say something I don't like, but I make it known that they're drawing my ire and asking for trouble. If they choose to keep it up, they'll have to deal with the consequences.
I hear people in Plat say they hate doing anything to the more mouthy characters because they don't want to be dubbed "Lil Kylin." (a character who made it habit of just killing random people for no real reason) I cringe whenever I hear that because there's a difference between being a bully and responding to being antagonized. I have to seriously question the mental capabilities of anyone not able to distinguish between the two.

Seriously, too. My first character ever was a lil warrior named Bailey Seton. March of 96, if my memory serves me correctly.

I have no issue with someone using skills to shut someone else up. If it's not overboard.
For example...
Snert picks on, insults, generally annoys someone for quite awhile. Older character tells snert to Run Along, or Hush Up.
Snert >rasp older character.
prep 211
cast snert
Then touch your lips, smile, and say "shhhhhh" and go about your business.

Heh, I remember Kylin. Is he still around?
Might doesn't make right. However if you go up to the biggest bouncer at a bar and start insulting him, no one's going to feel bad if he knocks your teeth out. Was it right of him to do? No. Did you probably deserve it? Hell yeah.

Hell yeah.
My first character was looking for someone and yelling in each room as she went...and Krisenfest winced...and came back and slept me and told me not to yell in every single area.
It pissed me off, but i stopped yelling.
Eh...stun em.

Word on the street is that Kylin was to be sold (the account went up on E-Bay). I don't know if it ever came to pass as people went to Khaladon soon as it got out.
The person most recently playing Kylin however (and who was trying to sell him) wasn't the original owner as well.

Yeah I know the original owner and he shared that character with someone else. I'm not sure if it's the same person though. Just found it funny that the character was still lingering.

I never saw any problems with people taking care of "snerts" in Plat. hell, my first char was an rude, asshate rogue (Baiscly, the same as my rogue in Prime), and he got his ass handed to him by even some of the "nicest" people in Plat.

On the other hand, I often wonder if I don't use my levels enough. I tend to just ignore/walk away from people that annoy me, but after all the time of posting here, seeing most of the logs of people blasting "annoying" people, I'm wondering if I'm doing things the wrong way.

Uh...do you have a problem standing up for yourself? You couldn't come back at them with any type of witty insults?
If you really don't want to resort to 'throwing your levels around'...Instead of whining at the person to stop being nasty, spit out a comeback that will stop them dead in their tracks. If they can't come up with a retort, or continue with childish/petty insults, then you win. That is much more fun and entertaining to the spectators watching the situation unfold as well.

We did insult them back, we didn't cry. It just got to the point where it would've been easier to just stun him and shut him up.

Then that's what you should have done.
Again, there's a difference between being a bully and responding to being antagonized.
Another thing to keep in mind is some people make their characters antagonists and solely EXPECT a reaction, with no intentions of reporting you or anything of the like. They just want to play the bad guy and will take their licks. I don't know how many of those there are in Prime, however...I'm sure there are some though.

If the person has no chance of killing you in anyway possible, then the best thing to do is just take off an arm or leg. If they have a chance of killing you, or injuring you, then just kill em and go on with yer life. The odd's are the GM's wont do shit.
