So.

I'm trying to fix my friend's computer.

Last time I just reformatted the hard drive.

I can't kill all the spyware on this thing. Any suggestions? NAV04 and spybot S&D aren't working, and somehow more shit just keeps popping up...

AdAware, have it scan the entire drive.

If her browser goes to certain pages on startup or on search pages, try "Browser Hijack Blaster"

What is it?

It's called Spy Sweeper, far superior to any of the other spy/ad/hijack removal programs available.

This is the scan results with Ad-Aware I got off one of my clients computers today in office.

Well, I don't feel so bad, cause we brought the thing into work and the computer fellow couldn't even fix it. He did the same things I did.

I always use SpyBot -- I'm going to give the one you suggested a try, though, Soulpieced.

The program is buried, and deep... there wasn't any way I could find it. Sucks to be her... sucks worse to be her stepson, who fucked the computer up in the first place!

Have you run HijackThis, Maimara? I've got to go to a meeting, but when I get home, I'll try to find the link to post the HijackThis logs to for answers. They're really helpful. :)

No, I haven't -- but I'll mention it to the computer guy at work.

In other news, has anyone heard news of this supposed nasty computer worm making the rounds? I got an alert about it today, I guess Windows has a patch out...?

Hijackthis is available at this site:

http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

The guys on this forum will take a look at your output from Hijackthis and analyze it for you, if needed: :)

Hope that helps!

No adware there... just cookies.

None of them were processes or reg keys.

Most of the ad-ware removal programs work pretty well so long as you keep them updated.

I run rotate using spybot and lavasoft.
