Ok.... I succumbed.

With my great success at beating all the competition at Barumple's Texas Hold'em games.. I sent in $200 to play for real money.

Question: What is the best site? I can deposit at anysite using the service I signed up for. Pokerstars.com won't pay the 8.9% deposit fee.. but pokerroom.com will. I like Pokerstars.com better because you can make your icon whatever you want and don't have to be one of those fucktard animated people.

Any other sites that are good.. and why?? My deposit should be in by tonight (I hope) so I need to make a decision pretty quickly.

I'll let someone else lecture you about online gambling. You're debating between an icon and 8.9% of your cash ($17.80)? Personally, I would say "fuck the icon" and keep my hard earned money so that I can throw it away gambling instead of spending it on a picture on a website. Unless one site has more options (playing wise) or seems more legit I would stick with the one that saves you the most money.

I piss away $17.80 without thinking sometimes... so it's not a money issue. And please don't bother telling me about the 'evils' of online gambling.. I already have a wife. :P

The service I set up (Because you can't use a North American credit card since they refuse to pay for online gambling) obviously charges to make the transaction. The difference is.. Pokerroom.com pays the 8.9% for you.. but their table graphics suck. Pokerstars.com won't pay the fee, but their tables look better and you can actually keep track of your stats better.

If you don't care about the money and if it tracks your statistics better, then I would go for pokerstars.com

I agree. Gambling online is stupid. Me and my housemates play occasionally. Theres five of us and we tend to go to a six person table. We let one person win most pots simply so he can dominate the sixth person who comes in. In the end we split everything. I'm sure we're not the only ones to do this either; IMing others your cards to calculate odds isn't exactly a rare thing.

You still have to have the cards to dominate.. so you would only gain a very small advantage. If I had the cards and your friend was all in... he still has to beat my cards or I'm taking all your money.

I typically will be entering tournaments for the World Series of Poker.. and they shuffle the tables around frequently, so I'm not real worried about the IM thing.

PokerStars is probably the most well known, I go with credibility.

For 200 bucks, Pokerstars is the way to go.

I'm usually on there myself. My username is Kranar, heh. Although I do have accounts on Pokerroom and PartyPoker.

Pokerstars doesn't suffer from collusion. They keep track of long term playing strategies of players, they prosecute collusion and will even refund the money if it's determined you were a victim of collusion.

Pokerroom is the worst of the three, I'm only with them because of their freeroll tournaments which they hold twice a day. PartyPoker.com is good if you're willing to gamble with a lot of money as they offer the best rewards for big time poker players. But for the casual gambling, PokerStars is definitely good.

Thanks Kranar! It took me about a week to completely finish. Cost about $150 in supplies (2x4s, 2 4x8 sheets of plywood, 4 yards of pleather and felt, liquid nails, etc...). Used a circular saw, jig saw, and drill to build it. Most used tool would have to be the carpenter's square. Best advice for building one of these: Measure twice, cut once. ;)

Those chips are top quality too, how much did they run you?

I paid $75 for 150 at a local gaming store and then I got the bright idea to check out ebay and picked up another 300 for $60. And yeah, once you start using the heavy clay chips you never wanna go back to the cheap plastic ones. The plastic ones weigh about 1 gram apiece whereas the clay ones are 11.5 grams each.

Try this..

ultimatebet.com

Decent enough game, and if you use something like NetTeller or some other service as a go-between, you can set it up where they just take it from your checking account and UB pays the 8.9% fee.

Good graphics, and it's up there with Pokerstars.

My 2 nickels worth.

I'll take a look at that tonight. I'm waiting for Netteller to fucking make their "under $1.00 deposit" into my account so I can get online already. Criminy. Hopefully, it will be there tonight.. or it won't be until Saturday that I will get to play. :(

Why not pay using a credit card?

It's instant and it has no service fee.

John Ascroft made it illegal for credit card companies to do business with online gaming sites.

None of my credit cards will allow me to charge anything to Netteller. Do you guys normally use a service like Netteller or do you deposit directly into Pokerstars?

None of my credit cards worked.. trust me, I tried. I spoke with the guy from Netteller and he said almost all of the credit cards from North America don't work because the bank doesn't allow charges on them from online gambling.

This has got to be a U.S. only rule, because several of my friends including myself use credit cards to play.

Ah well, Neteller it is...

Well.. I finally got an account:

I was down $11 due to losing in a tourny.. so I thought I'd just hop in a cheap 1/2 room and make some back. First hand I won $22... 5th hand I won $25...

10th hand.. I have a full house.. 10's over 4's. The ONLY POSSIBLE thing that could beat me would be having the 4s and 7s to make a straight flush. He bet $10... I raised it $20.. he raised it $75.

Needless to say.. he had the fucking straight flush.....

Mother fucker... now I'm sad. :(

My name there is Parkbandit (Yea.. it's stupid.. but I originally signed up to play with GS silvers.. only to find that you can't make play money private tables... and you can't change your name once you set it)

I've stayed away from the online games because I can't see the player's face when they bet.
Is there really enough player's willing to bet it's worth pulling that straight card or the pocket 3's they have against the 4+ other players to make it worth it?
You've made me curious...

It's a different game.. that's for sure. I take notes on individual player's tendacies (You can enter them right on the site) and then just figure out the cards and what can beat me.

To me, it's tougher than live poker in that you can't see their reactions and notice their give aways.. but it's still good entertainment.
