I'm not sure if I'm just not getting enough vitamins, need to change my diet, or what but lately i've had horrid memory loss (like small crap where i put my keys, last put something all together, etc) and bad sporatic headaches.. anyone have these problems before?

Throw in some nice tasty Ginseng along with those other hollistic meds you're taking and you'll...think...you're doing fine.

I get like that when I haven't been getting enough sleep (like the last few days). It gets really bad for me sometimes.. are you sleeping well?

I get like that as well, when I am lacking sleep, or lacking quality of sleep. Unless I sleep in a semi-good bed, I wake up with my back all messed up, and all those symptoms.

Or, you know, talk to a doctor or something.

Posting 100% seriously here, the 8 hour sleep myth is just that, a huge myth. I used to think 8 hours is all the body needs, as most of us were taught in school, by my Doctor shot that down right away.

Per his words, each persons sleep needs are very different. I can *function* off 4-5 hours of sleep, but only if I'm doing non-thinking manual labor. I need a soild 7-8 hours of sleep for me to be able to be able to really work hard on mental tasks. If I don't get it, I tend to get extreamly frustrated with said tasks and give up.

On the other hand, my Doc NEEDS 9 hours of sleep. He's actually closed down his office because he did not have the sleep to function.

He's talked to me about it a few times, because I tend to force myself to work offa 5-6 hours of sleep, same as my mother. She does JUST fine with 5 hours of sleep.

Anyway, with all rambling aside, try adding an hour of sleep a night, till you wake up feeling great.

I NEED 2 to function at school.

I need 3 for work.

I need a solid 6 to not yawn at all. :)

Take some ginseng and gingo biloba, and also start doing things with the hand that you don't normally use. If you're right handed, brush your teeth using your left hand. Little things like that.

I've heard vitamin E might be good for memory as well. Certainly can't hurt. Youc an also break open a capsule and put it on wounds and burns.

Adredrin has it mostly right. Remember sleep cycles in school, I believe in most people they're abot 1.5 hours long.

So try to sleep either 7.5 or 9 hours. Those are ussually the magic number for most people.

Sure you could get by with less, but you'd most likely feel better with the right amount.

Even when I'm going off of a few hours of sleep, I rarely lose my memory.

Hell, back in college, I used to take exams with no sleep at all. Oddly enough, I did better on those exams than I did on the ones with a full night sleep. Probably because I was too tired to worry or be nervous.

:yeahthat: Seriously what Adredrin said sounds the most accurate. Start taking ginseng and see if that helps, change your sleep cycle around and note any changes in your regular behavior when you are awake.

Stop smoking the wacky tabacky. ;)

Nah, I forgot what vitamin it's called, but it contains ginseng. I use to take it 4 years ago. It actually helps. That and everything most people said here.

Ginseng and gingko biloba have, in most cases, been proven to work marginally better than a placebo. You're wasting your money. Go outside, pull out some weeds, put them in an empty bottle and print the word "GINGKO" on it and you'll pretty much experience the same thing. And if you're taking Tylenol or Advil, taking gingko can actually hurt more than it helps. Definitely not worth the money.

Ginseng is SUPPOSED to give you an energy increase and is considered a stimulant (and reduce stress, if that's what's causing your headache). The last study I read on it (think it was a study at Brown) indicated that it does little at a metabolical level to actually increase your energy.

Take a brisk walk to try and clear your head. Exercise tires you out, but especially doing cardio should help you keep your energy level up for the day. Someone mentioned earlier to ask a doctor. That's probably the best advice so far I've read in this thread.

I also forgot...

If you happen to be a vegetarian, or eat very little meat, supplementing with creatine can help.
