How long do the gates stay closed for?
How often does this happen? Daily? Weekly? Other?

It's an event. Download Lich and use the catacombs with ;go2

Just ;go2 the court.

When I ;go2 court it goes to the gate and keeps trying to go through the closed gate.

Yeah, I don't think the graveyard side will access the catacombs. Not sure what level you are, but you can get to Sorcerer's Isle from the graveyard side.

You will have to search around the bridge for a trail. Follow that trail down to the river. If your lucky enough to find a boat there, GO BOAT, ROW in a North/Northwest direction until you see some other boats. When you see those boats (in the room description), ROW SW. then ROW DOCK. from here, use ;go2 3519.

If you don't see a boat, you'll need to know the water walking spell.

the graveyard has access to the catacombs, it's in the mausoleum on the east side of the glaise gnoc room ID: 10674 once there search until you find the hidden passage, no idea how much perception you need, if you need any. Head through the passage go south and you'll be at the hole that leads into the temple go through the hole then ;go2 town and you're all set. To get out to the cemetery go north of the hole in the catacombs and through the openning and it'll put you in the mausoleum.
