For reasons that I do not fully understand, Romney has consciously decided to make Medicare a big part of the 2012 campaign.

Do any of you know of an unbiased article that explains the two positions in more detail than the nightly news but not in so much detail that I will fall asleep? I like articles with charts.

All I can find are these two items that assume the viewer is too dumb to understand anything with actual detail.

Romney used a whiteboard today to discuss Medicare. He said his plan would make Medicare solvent and would not change anything -- "no adjustments, no changes, no savings," in Romney's words -- and that Obama's plan would both cut benefits and leave Medicare bankrupt.

I thought the deal was that Medicare is going bankrupt if we didn't do something to change it.

The Obama campaign has put out its own competing whiteboard.

The press is doing a poor job of covering the Medicare issue. Nobody has yet produced a good article comparing the two plans in detail. If the lamestream media isn't up to the task, I may have to do it myself.

According to this article (http://www.buzzfeed.com/mckaycoppins/the-romney-family-takes-charge), Romney recently started paying less attention to the advice of his paid political advisors and more attention to advice of his wife and son. The selection of Ryan is one example of where he followed his family's advice and rejected the advice of his other advisors.

That must be the explanation for why Romney brought up the topic of Medicare.

Mr. Romney said he was eager to have a Medicare debate with Mr. Obama and the Democrats.

“I think we’re the ones that brought up the topic,” Mr. Romney said, standing next to a whiteboard on which he sketched out what he said were the differences between the two candidates on Medicare.
