Been away for a bit.

Now that UAC system has been released, is training in brawling the best defense against it? If so then isn't this another reason for a pure to train as a shield brawler vs a runestaff?

. . . not entirely sure what you are going for, but why would you be trying to defend against it? Unless you are heavy PVP vs brawling characters, I can't really see what the need for defending against it is.

That being said, it doesn't look like it. The factors that go into UDF, the defensive aspect of UAC are:

Stance
(Level * 2) Bonus
Dodge DS
Parry DS
Shield DS
Spell DS
Society DS from Signs, Symbols, Sigils)
Equipment Enchant bonuses
