YouTube video uploading

Anyone have any experience in this field?

I'm testing out a new video capture program I found, and I wanted to see the quality once I uploaded it to YouTube.

It was just a video of rogue leveling in WoW, maybe 30 minutes. When I tried to upload it to Youtube, it said it would need TEN HOURS to process.

So I made a new video 2:18 long, and Youtube is saying it'll take FORTY THREE minutes to upload it.

Is this just an indication of a crappy internet connection/service? I don't have FIOS or anything, but it's not like I'm on dialup.

Is it maybe the time of day I'm uploading it at, 10 pm EST/7 pm PST? Is Youtube inundated by uploads at that time?

When I was on my honeymoon, I shot daily travel-blog style videos in 720p on my phone and updated them with crummy hotel WiFi.

I'd say the average 5 minute HD vid would take about half an hour, under that sub-optimal situation.

Edit: If time of day matters, I would do them in the evenings, which would've been early morning in the States.

Well, it took less than the 43 minutes it said. But I didn't time it.

It was just a 2m video in 720p.
