With AS/DS attacks the damage factor for all body locations is based on the torso armor group, regardless of the actual area covered. For UCS attacks the damage factor is based on the torso armor's covered areas. A target wearing light leather (AsG 5) will have the UCS (jab/punch/grapple/kick) leather DF for torso (chest, back abdomen) areas and the cloth DF for all other body locations. These DF's are not affected by armor accessories. This also applies to creatures whose skin acts as pseudo-armor. Any UCS attack against a target in partial armor coverage will have two possible damage factors.

Tactically, if you know the target's armor group, you can aim attacks at non-covered areas and have increased damage results.

Example:

Kick DFs vs target in double chain (torso/arm coverage) wearing helm and leg greaves.

Chest/back/abs: .250 (chain DF)
Arms/hands: .250 (chain DF)
Legs: .300 (scale DF)
Head/neck/eyes: .300 (scale DF)

Attack Type|AG|Cloth|Leather|Scale|Chain|Plate|RT
Jab|DF|.100|.075|.060|.050|.040|3
Punch|DF|.275|.250|.200|.170|.140|3
Grapple|DF|.250|.200|.160|.120|.100|4
Kick|DF|.400|.350|.300|.250|.200|5

All the damage values and messaging for the 4 UCS critical tables has been completed. Status effects and injuries are still a work-in-progress. The tables are posted on KP.

Links to each table can be found in the See Also section of the Unarmed Combat System article.

I've generally been an open swinger in order to minimize rt, but wow this gives aimed head/leg attacks an even larger than usual mechanical advantage. I think I'm gonna swap to aimed attacks ASAP. I'd been contemplating picking up Crowd Press and aiming for the head due to the large number of knockdowns with the UCS. It looks even better now.

Anyone have experience with Crowd Press? I've never used it.

Thanks for crunching these numbers!

Thanks for you and everyone else who has been testing these new changes for all the hard work that has been put into getting this information out to the community. It is this type of dedication that has always made the GS community so much more than just a group of players.
