False. I can see which characters you have used PsiNet to login with. Because PsiNet has no association with the login server or simutronics account information, I cannot see the contents of that account.

There is NO code in PsiNet which does this, intentionally OR coercively. PsiNet will NOT take commands from the server and send them to the game in ANY instance, ever.

Because he got pissed off on the channel, and decided- and told us- that he was going to lie to GMs and claim that I "hacked" his computer. That kind of threat- not only to PsiNet, but to me personally- is beyond what I can tolerate.

His current tirade is related to having been found out under his new alias, xshadowmerchantx.

I use PsiNet. Before I got it, I found out what Jamus could and couldn't see. And I'm perfectly fine with all of it. There's a measure of trust involved, sure, but I've never had any reason not to trust him.

If you turn off the locate option ...Jamus will do it anyway just to prove to you he can. If you uninstal he will harass your character in game. I felt that the problems with Jamus out weighed the benifits of psi net for me. But this is my own opinion. And thank god this is still America and I don't have to use it.

Actually, in a way, Shadya is right. To maintain order on PsiNet, my name (Jamus) cannot be ignored. At the time, it was by default. I've since modified the system so that I can be ignored unless I explicitly choose to reject it. Before, I wasn't even aware when people WERE ignoring me unless I checked manually.

I rarely have to use this function, but I so insist that it be available for urgent situations. I'm told this made her uncomfortable.

I hardly feel I harassed her, though. I did ask her, in game, in whispers, why she no longer used PsiNet, though, out of curiosity. She was vehement enough that I didn't concern myself much over it.

She's brought this up a few times. I guess she's still angry or something. :shrug:

And if by account and character information, you mean the characters that have logged in from that computer, you're correct. Otherwise, you're completely wrong. And if you knew anything about connecting to a server, IT LOGS YOUR IP. Not exactly hard to write a tool to match a character to an IP if he ever suspects someone circumventing a ban. Well, it's not even possible for PsiNet to log e-mail information as e-mail has nothing to do with PsiNet whatsoever, and I highly doubt he's intercepting encrypted data from Simu and decoding it so he can steal your account information.

Those who choose to use it are, hopefully, willing to take whatever risk they perceive to be associated with its use. Those who do not use it have differing reasons why they have made that choice. It is really nobody else's business.

It would be kind of hard to get your account name when it's encrypted by Simu with login keys. Jamus != Simu. Sure, he might be able to get your login key, but it changes routinely and you wouldn't even be able to login with just that.

It's IMPOSSIBLE for Jamus to have e-mail information through PsiNet. E-mail has NOTHING TO DO WITH PSINET.

I'd like more details on what information Jamus has access to about characters. I can't disprove it, because I don't know what it means.

PsiNet is designed so that it is easily investigated, by those who are capable of doing so.

PsiNet's data stream to the PsiNet server is completely unencrypted (an intercept or sniffer will tell you this). PsiNet uses no UDP (a firewall will tell you this). PsiNet does not interfere with windows sockets files (any decent spyware detector will tell you this). PsiNet is not running when account names and passwords are sent to the server (Task manager will tell you this).

Basically, what this means is that it is very easy- relatively speaking- to find what information PsiNet does and does not send to the PsiNet server, or anywhere else. It is very easy- relatively speaking- to find out what secure information PsiNet can feasibly have access to- namely, your login key, which is part of the connection process. This login key, as Bob stated, is changed regularly (every few hours) and does not contain any account name or password data.

My statements are not unprovable, by those who expend the effort. Simu has expended that effort, and was unable to find any specific security threats- merely the possibility of.

Hope that clears that issue up.

Oh, and nobody's been hacked thus far. I hope that says something positive about it- though obviously not concrete.
