Now, I get care packages from Mom.
:-D
Woot.
And my mom is way smart. Not only did she send me clothes, but she sent me HANGERS to hang them on!

I used to get care packages from my Mom...then I became an adult. :sniffle: I miss free food and stuff.

I'm 23, and she sends me cartons of ramen noodles and mac and cheese.
Are you saying I'm not an adult? :spaz:

Too bad she thinks I'm like 30298749732 pounds.

No, I'm just jealous. If she loved you, she'd send you Velveeta Shells and Cheese, not the blue box crud.

You can get like 50 hangers for a quarter at Walmart.

I cant wait to move out. Next May I am moving in with a good friend into an apartment in Philly. Its right near the art museum so its a decent section of town. My friend is already moved in and its amazing. Yeah, cant wait.

Yeah, you won't be so happy once you're there. Apartments in DECENT sections of Philly are not cheap. Plus, they have this stupid little City tax they take out of your paycheck in addition to the other taxes. I'd much rather live where I do, paying half the rent, yet can drive into Philly in 30 minutes.

In the two years I've been at college, I've received exactly one care package, and it was from my sister during finals week.
<-- Unloved. Then again, I also live like two hours away from home.

Its not a cheap place, but if you work it out it is very close to the same as room and board at temple which is where I will be attending once I move so its not really that bad.

Ah, my buddy goes to Temple. Fun place. Bad neighborhood. Have fun, Philly is a blast!

Philly is kind of depressing, all the empty, half torn down buildings and homeless people...

Yeah, but then you go to Old City and it's beautiful. Of course, the bad part of Philly is the Philly people, and Philly sports teams. Remove all them and it's a great place.

I was only there for a weekend... we were in South Philly... it was definitely culture shock for me.
Then again, moving from suburban Minnesota to suburban D.C. was (is) culture shock for me... I can only handle going into the city for short periods of time. The 4th was fun, we spent almost two days there, but it really weirded me out.

heh, I love the city. The apartment I will be in is within sight of old city so its a decent neighborhood. The only real bitch will be planning vacations around the parades. The apartment is off of Ben Franklin Bvd. and that is the main drive for parades in philly... should prove to be interesting.
Although the philly fans are some of the worst in the country, the teams arent that bad, they just cant finish what they start. I do plan on picking up tickets to the eagles and temple sporting events.
Best part about the whole thing is that I will only be 10 minutes from Pats....

haha.
I wasn't all that impressed, honestly. Though I think we went to Jim's... I don't remember.

Jim's isnt bad, the only time I have been there was when my friend and I went to Pat's and then decided that we should try Jim's because it was supposed to be good. So we finished our pats cheesesteaks and fries then went to Jim's and had another... Pat's is definately better.

Dalessandro's are the best in Philly. I wouldn't drive 30 minutes for Pat's or Gino's, but I'll gladly do it for D's.

I used to send my friends who lived on their own care pacakges when times were tough for them..
I once sent my friend Steve a box with sample bottles of shampoo, a gas gift card, a pack of cigarettes, 2 videos of his favorite tv show that he didn't get to see, and some snacks.

Philly is kind of depressing, all the empty, half torn down buildings and homeless people... It can be kind of depressing depending on the area, and I've seen some really horrible parts. My cousin lives in Germantown--Which is considered a pretty bad part of Philly but he's a school teacher in Germantown and loves what he does, so he deals with living there. [weird] I really don't see how. Even the worst ghetto in Chicago looks better than the parts of Germantown I've seen when I visited him. However, I always have the most fun when I go visit him. The sports fans are crazy there. I have a friend that lives in Bryn Mawr so the difference is kind of shocking.
Oh and, moms definitely rule. I have my own place and she still puts money into my account and takes me grocery shopping <she hates that my fridge is empty most of the time> . Go figure.

I still live at home but my older brother has a house. My parents still buy things to give to him out of fear of him starving.
His fridge is pathetic though. Usually frozen meatballs and crabcakes. And some bread and cold cuts are usually all thats in there. Oh and sometimes he actually has cereal!

I'm lucky because I don't live that far from home. My sister used to come last semester and cook me dinner every so often, which was great for me because I can't cook.

Yeah...Moms rule. I don't live with mine, but whenever I need something, guess who I call? I'm a lil spoiled...just enough to know I'm loved, but not enough to where I could quit my job and live off the spoiling. Damn, I miss those days. Time to hit the lottery, or something. That way I can play til 3am, sleep til noon, lather, rinse, repeat.
Because laziness can be cool...
