Players' Corner FTP Site

The site is set up. I've only about 40 gigs of songs, and games/programs thus far, but will be adding more daily. If you are interested in getting an account to share (ie you upload some, download some), U2U me and we can set something up.

My hope is that the members of this forum can have a nice place to share, and SAMPLE games and music without the worry of virus ridden or ad ridden sites and programs. As always, be sure to support the developers and and artists by registering or purchasing the product after the 24 hour evaluation period.

Just so there is no confusion, this FTP site isn't affiliated with the Players' Corner, I am just setting it up for the members of this forum exclusively.

I am mostly looking for full games, applications, and full music albums. I've ripped about 50 of my out of my roommates 200 CD collection thus far, so I've got some work ahead of me.

Okay, we've got four users so far. If people have requests for music and/or games, post it here and if I can find it I will put it up, or if another person has it they can put it up.

Why it's better than Kazaa:

Files are never corrupt.
Files are virus free and complete.
Downloads are faster as I'm on a high bandwidth cable modem.
We are helping each other out.

The site is coming along nicely. We've had over 2 gigs of uploads thanks to Tijay and a friend of mine. For those who are having trouble, you have to restrict your uploads to the upload folder, that is the only folder with write permission in it. For those who are asking about movies, I have started to rip a few movies and put them up. Again, this FTP is only what we make it so let's get sharing.

Yeah, took me about 6 years of collecting, but I finally managed to find them all. I even have the unreleased games that never made it to retail, like Star Fox 2, and some other sequels as well as beta games that never finished the testing phase.

My only dissapointment is that I am unable to say the same for Genesis games. I have 194 Genesis games, which while moderately sufficient, feels a tad bit empty not having the entire collection.

I left a large queue at work and came home and it was still running.

Check your settings on your FTP client. Many of them default to 600 seconds. Most people have had no problem. Also, your client needs to be in passive mode. Lemme know if there are other problems.

Also check that your DNS and local name servers are properly configured and responding.

Nope, I've got 2 users on and it's working fine. Must be your settings. Make sure your FTP client is in PASSIVE (PSV) mode.

It's in passive mode...I tried adding your IP to the Trusted zone for ZoneAlarm, and just disabling the firewall. Still doesn't work. What are you all using?

The anime that is licenced, if I do upload it..is for 24 hour viewing only, of course ;)

FTP - File Transfer Protocol.

It's basically a server he's set up that will allow people to upload and download files. You need software, I recommend CuteFTP or other simple (and free) FTP software programs.

You'll have your own username/login and there will most likely be an upload/download ratio (you can only download as much as you upload) - which is done to keep people uploading more things for him to share.

Anyone using MacOSX I recommend Interarchy (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/interarchy.html).

You can drag and drop from your system right into the folders on the server.

I fixed the problem. It was initially counting credits from that session alone, but I have changed it to count credits from all sessions. If your credit reset, lemme know what it should be and I'll add it in. Trust me, I have no plans of hoarding all the files for myself as most of what has been uploaded I won't watch or listen to and is for others.

The copy of Donnie Darko is bad. It cut me off about 13k into the transfer, so there might be a few minutes of movie there. I'll try again sometime tonight.

If you uploaded half a gig, then your credit should be one gig. No idea why the automatic creditor isn't working, but I will manually add in your credit in a second. FYI, I really dislike BulletProof FTP. As far as transfer speeds, that's nothing to do with me. I have people downloading at 100k/s, so it is something on your end.

Why can't you download? What error is it giving? It seems some people are having very unique problems that most aren't having (ie credits not counting and unable to download). If you are one of these people, leave details please. The exact error message would help immensely. Most often it turns out to be on the client side, not the server side, but you never know. Keep trying folks and hopefully all the kinks will be ironed out by this weekend, and we can share carefree.
