Ok, so to finish off my diverse collection of games, I'm looking to get into an MMO again but am not sure yet which one to jump into and listed below I have options. Anyone able to help fill me in on which ones are still a thriving game and not fully dead?
1) ToR: I never played the Beta since at the time I didn't have a PC to handle it, so I gave out my key to an old SWG guildie. He has then since moved on to a Euro Server and I think alot of other guildies are looking to transfer to some other servers soon/now. Is this game still pretty good, having been a HUGE Star Wars fan for years, and being largely involved in SWG since Beta?
2) WoW: I likely played this game for maybe a week or so back in college and could never get into it...I think more so since I didn't have or know many people that played it, so I felt lost when I would since I was pretty much playing alone.
3) GW2: Should I wait for this to come out? What are people's thoughts on it thus far with Beta?
4) Elder Scrolls Online: Likely won't be out also for a while, but hey you can never come prepared!
I'm leaning more towards ToR since it would be nice to play with old friends, but I'm open to options. Plus I know some of you play ToR so I'd like to hear what you think of it

SWTOR is a great game. Pros and cons.
PROS:
Beautiful graphics. Great art design.
4 classes with 2 professions and 3 skill trees each.
2 factions at war.
PVE and PVP.
LASERGUNS AND LIGHTSABERS SON!!!
Missons are streamlined to the area you are in. Not a lot of running back and forth.
Arcade like spaceship missions.
Constant development.
Twich combat.
The game designers really covered Raph's four aspects of gaming.
Those who seek to interact with other people, or Socializers
Those who seek to dominate other people, or Killers
Those who seek to learn and master the mechanics of the world, or Explorers
Those who seek to advance within the context of the world, or Achievers
Great replay options.
CONS:
I think leveling is too fast.
The economy is super tight.
Over-development. This game isn't even a year old.
All of these points can be elaborated on.

Pro: It can be played with a Best Buy computer (heavily modified, of course).
Con: Backlash endorses it.

Pretentious computer snob trolling is hilarious.

Literally the only difference between SWTOR and WoW is that the former is set in space, and doesn't have as much content as WoW, but with bettering questing/leveling. The graphical upgrade is slight, at best, certainly not cutting edge. Oh, and it has about 1/10th of the playerbase. If you're going to play SWTOR but don't care about Jedi, might as well play WoW.
I'd say play neither, if you're new. If you want graphics and awesome combat, you want to check out TERA. If you want a pretty damn good questing/exploration/leveling type game, you want to wait for GW2. If you want PvP, you want to wait for GW2, definitely. If you want end game PvE, you unfortunately either have to wait for WoW's new expansion, or play Rift, where leveling makes me want to gouge my eyes out. But their raiding and the sheer diversity of their build possibilities make their end game pretty damn good from what I hear. I for one never reached cap.
Don't get into mmo's at all if you can help it imo you run into people like anticor, fall in with a bad crowd and next thing you know your waiting 2 hours for a stoner from nebraska to log on at 10pm on a work night.

I would say don't bother, especially not with the current crop. Guild Wars 2 might be worth checking out but there are so many other PC games out there you could be playing now.
Eve is a great game if you like no Disneyfication at all and like piloting a spreadsheet.

EVE, ugh lol.
I say wait for GW2, but I guess I'm biased since I've been waiting for it for like 5 years.

DDO has great grouping, lots of fun content, and they're changing everything over the next six months or so, so you won't be as far behind the knowledge curve. A decent sized population, large enough that you will only rarely group with the same person twice unless you actively seek each other out, but not so large that you can always expect to find/fill groups for the more obscure content. (Don't play on Wayfinder, it's for German speakers only and is tiny.)
Cons: painfully limited Cyber barbie, PvP is essentially nonexistent (if that's what you're into), as an older game it has a lot of interesting glitches and bugs that can render it literally unplayable even on top of the line computers. The management seems to have no idea what the players or even what the management wants, they routinely make a change in one direction in one update and go back past the original point the other way in the next. Another example... we have a German server! No Spanish, no French, no Asian languages, just German.

This is a completely different kind of MMO, but something that a GS'er might be into. I played the shit out if it around 2003-5ish, just hopped back on to check it out again and it's still running strong.

Basically a big multiplayer spreadsheet battle. You build up a kingdom, use your military to capture land from other people, cooperate with a kingdom of 25 other random people against other kingdoms. "Games" or "Ages" last about 3 months and then restart with new rules, but you can join at any time. It's nearing the end point of an age right now, so it's a pretty good time to learn the ropes before a fresh start.
The game is free and it's designed so that you generally only log on a couple times a day and doesn't require a huge time commitment unless you get really into it.
