View Full Version : 1611 + CMAN's = Broken ?

Alright, Yesterday I had 194 CMAN's and decided based on 1611 that I would re-arrange those points to increase my dodge. I looked at the CMAN skills I needed and determined this should be no problem. 1611 claims it adds 10 + (.75 cman ranks per every paladin spell above 11 ) and counts for CML Attack and defense up to and included (but not more than) the total a Paladin could have if he were fully trained. I took my CMAN's down to 163 since I had 50 spells in the Paladin circle. This should equate to ( 10 + (.75*39)) for a total of 39.25. Fully trained I would be at 202 ranks, whereas each rank in the top tier equates to +1 bonus. Therefore 202-39 = 163.
In the past 5-6 weeks in the temple, I have had 2 successful attempts by the critters there via CMANS until my change yesterday. Both were cutthroats with amazing rolls. Yesterday in just 2 hunts, CMAN's were succesfully used against me 5+ times including charges, etc. Afew of them were absolutely amazing rolls of like D100= 386 or some crap like that however, the others were just normal rolls. It looks as though anything on a normal roll of 65+ will get them over the 100 mark. Before, even a 100 roll wouldn't do anything to me.
The only changes to my CMAN SKILLS were getting rid of feint (Rank4) and disarm (Rank 5) (since I got my new weapon up to paladin bond 5) I increased wspec from 4 to 5 and acquired rank 5 of combat movement (The one that at rank 5 give +10 to DS) I already have rank 5 of combat defense as well.
The only other change I made was also increasing my minor spiritual spells from 20 to 40.
Does anyone else have any knowledge on this or have seen this/asked GM's? If 1611 works the way it should, there should have been no difference. If there is a difference then they need to state it since I used a fixskills based off their information.
Ouch. In no way could I possibly be of any help but definitely curious to hear the outcome of this.

I vaguely remember this happening with trying to buff other spell circles, but reducing the Paladin circle. One thing was I had an aventail and helm I really liked and was being stupid and gave myself full armor encumberance because I refused not to wear them. I don't (edit: remember!) if feint being rank 5 (50) vs. +63 as a wtrick master would offset enemies' feints, especially in offensive. I'm not sure it has some hidden roll against CMANs like cthroat?

Even all other factors being equal, you shouldn't expect either your feint or disarm defense to be as high, since you trimmed ranks in the CMAN's themselves.
Beyond that, I wouldn't ever trust a spell to do the work of a skill as well as a skill does. This is Gemstone.
That's why when Mass Blur moved from being flat +20 DS to +20 phantom dodge ranks, I looked at it askance, and still do. It's not as if dodge > DS at this stage of the game, since dodge does nothing but provide DS in incremental states based on your stance and slightly improve a formula (Evade) that's really hard to get a qualitative foothold in unless you can 2x the skill.
Basically, this just means that 911 no longer provides +20 DS in all stances to all characters... crap.

Talked to a GM and is does seem fishy, they are wokring it and i'll have to post on the play.net forums. 1611 is for sure not working right it seems. As my disarm/feint would go down... that would not affect getting charged constantly. :) It is agreed it needs to be looked into. I got my fixskills back to fix them to before the fixskills.. and when this gets fixed then i should be able to use my original fixskills lol

Ack. Wtrick master would have + 163 at feinting +/- underlying stat bonus + possibility of a n+(x = 100) 100 rolls. Which brings into question the categorical imperative of 1611 being wonky: Has anyone ever wtrick juggled 6 or more weapons? That's how you win GemStone.

Once, with the act verb, 10 chainsaws that were on fire.

>wt juggle 5
[Total modified roll = 107]
You gather up a mithril seaman's dirk, a mithril seaman's dirk, a mithril seaman's dirk, a mithril seaman's dirk and a mithril seaman's dirk in your hands. One by one, you toss them in the air, where they flip end over end until all of the weapons are airborne. You catch each one as they fall and send it back in the air, creating a dazzling aerobatic display.
CLOSE.

WTRICK JUGGLE with but one Chainsaw Laserman also wins GemStone, but you get the better ending.

You gather together some weapons and attempt to juggle them, but can't quite get the rhythm and end up dropping them all over the ground. Trying to hide your blunder, you quickly gather up the weapons you were holding.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
I've gotten that same roll about 6 times out of the last 20 minutes of me trying. I'm thinking it just won't go higher.

I think it's 1/100 + bonus or it might be 1/200 and so on + pale-in-comparison bonuses. It may be seeded. It would still be ridiculous.

Would a moonstone cube affect those rolls? Wtrick is sort of like a CMAN..

Maybe, lets see!

Doesn't appear to have any effect. 70 was the highest I could get over the entire course of an entire cube's duration.

I still have not heard back from the dev's, nor have they posted anything about it on the officials. Looks like the stats quo for fixing things.
