It's in Somerville, right off the Davis Square T stop. They do amazing bbq and ribs and they have a pretty good beer selection too (and make knock-you-on-your-ass margaritas, srsly, you're limited to 2).

Why Koullshi? Reading the Yelp reviews and it sounds like eyeball gouging would be more enjoyable.

Remember there's only 10 reviews for Koullshi specifically and most people who go there end up reviewing for Tangierino, the restaurant upstairs and connected to it. Also if you go without making a reservation, you'll probably have bad time.

It's expensive (hence the whole "shell out" bit) but they pack the bowl right and use phunnel bowls, use non quick-light coal, mix the shisha correctly if you order a hybrid, offer ice without additional charge, and you can drink while you smoke (most of the Boston hookah lounges offer only tea and non-alcoholic beverages). Also I made a complaint to the owner about the girl getting the hookah started having gloopy lip gloss and making the hose disgusting and he emailed me back thanking me for the feedback and comped me for another visit, so I'm inclined to like the place.

I've noticed this too. My favorite Indian food place in Boston has a really crap rating despite having awesome food.

I was Yelp Elite in 2011 (shuttup) and I noticed from the get togethers that a lot of my peers had super champagne taste, not just in the food but service. When I rate on yelp I try really hard to be fair to the type of establishment it is, the type of food, who the demographic is, etc. I got the feeling people rated certain types of food and establishments lower simply because it wasn't fine dining and they felt obligated to inform people that a hot dog restaurant isn't "on par" with fine french dining. Personally I felt like if you couldn't figure that shit out on your own you're too stupid to share the same oxygen as myself but there you go.

yeah, my favorite irish pub in Cambridge is regularly shit on in yelp because the food is "average Irish pub fare" (ITS A FUCKING IRISH PUB) and the bartenders are skilled at pulling beers and filling quick cocktail orders as opposed to doing craft cocktails (mixologist stuff). Extra hilarious when people say the bartenders are "mean". They're not mean, they're smart-asses, and they're fucking awesome if you treat them like people and just go, "Hey when you get a second, can I get a shot of Jameson?" If you tip well and don't need police to be called at the end of the night they'll be your BFF. But on YELP you'd think they committed some horrid atrocity because they have the gall to offer mostly shepherd pie and guinness and you're likely to be told to get fucked if you ask for a mojito on Saturday night.

I was originally planning on until I found out about this mandarin quiz. Also, I'd just like to put this out there. When people leave and you end up drinking their water, it is really good for lack of hangover the next day. It is unfortunately nowhere near as good for the T ride back to your car. This problem is further compounded by happening to be on the last train of the evening, which necessitates a 10 minute delay at each stop to make sure latecomers aren't stranded.

My phone's camera is horrible. I didn't take any pictures at all, so I can't post any. Maybe Celephais has some?

My ability to take a photo with my phone is horrible. I managed to get one w/ the dog in it, but it's pretty blurry. ... And those were the only pictures I took, attempting to get the dog to sit still (he didn't seem to like sitting still if I wasn't petting him, so it was a catch 22 for me to take a picture).

I had a good time and would happily do it again. Hopefully next time won't be directly after having been drinking all day.
