Market Indexes- What do you watch?

Is the plural of index "indexes" or "indices?"

I know there's a few of you that trade. There has to be a few of you that know more about the markets than I do, since I know very little.

My question... Are there any sort of indexes/reports that you watch? I think indexes may not be the right term. Things like BLS reports or things like the VIXX.

Now that my work schedule is greatly reduced, I have time to do market research.

You're talking about indicators, not indices. As far as announcements, the biggest factors are employment reports, Fed statements, the latest Treasury auction, and the producer price index.

It doesn't move markets, and for the most part it's a lagging indicator. Consumer confidence goes down when things are shitty and slowly rises as they get better, but consumers are reacting to the health of the market and not predicting it. I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to it.
