I was pretty sure I had already made this thread but when searching couldn't find it so I guess I didn't.

This thread is basically to discuss the style of different authors or maybe just to vent about a certain book. (I will add my vent as the second post)

So here's the vent that created this thread. Anyone ever read Terry Goodkind? Specifically the series that begins with Sword of Truth.

Well I am on the third book in the series and although they're great there's one thing that pisses me off. The main character Richard is so deeply in love with Kahlan BUT he still is like tempted by every woman that comes along! I know they're basically using spells to tempt him but it's so annoying because it's just like can't you keep your penis from ruling your thoughts?

Honestly he makes me want to smack him.

Penis rules mankind.

Learn it.
Live it.
Love it.

All hail the penis. :worship:

Aw my reply died!

Ok repeated... It annoys me because he will like die for Kahlan but he can't control himself around other women. If you say you love someone that much then stop looking at every breast that comes your way!

I read them awhile ago, so it all kind of blurs together...is this before, after, or during the Mord Sith?

^^ What Bob said.

Except my porn collection would only be classified as "barely ultra".

I do on occasion point out a girl to my girlfriend. Usually saying something like "Is it really necessary for her to show so much cleavage?". She rarely buys it.

I'm not talking porn. Porn is ok because you aren't with the actual person. I'm talking about every single female you meet in person.

This is after the Mord Sith, he's in like the city where the Confessors Palace is and this Queen was put a spell on basically to tempt him and it really makes me mad.

rofl. As long as the person isn't in the room with you, it's okay? That's fucking excellent.

I mean it's like watching a movie and saying that guys hot. You're never gonna see those people. The difference is when you're alone with the person and barely able to keep yuorself in your pants.

When I go out to lunch with a co-worker friend of mine, we're constantly scoping out chicks. And we both have girls already. If I see one, I'll point her out to him (but he usually catches them first).

Well yeah! I know cause they were like "It's a passion spell, the moral equivalent of rape" but still this isn't the first time he wanted another woman!

He was raped by a Mord Sith! And then he was like getting all tingly for this sorceress. It's annoying...

Going off the first post I'm allowed to bring author styles I like up?

R.A. Salvatore. I know some people really don't like him. But anyone who gives his books an honest chance has to admit, he is AMAZING in discribing battles. Little or large.

What kind of books does he write? And yeah bring up any author you love or any book that you can't get off your mind.

Fantasy, based in the Forgotten Realms setting. He is the creater of the dreaded "Drizzt" that is cloned in like every possible mispelling known to man on most RPG based online games.

But his best work BY FAR is the one it seems most people have not read. The Clerics Quintet. Very good series, with lots of different twists in it.

Ask Weedie. She's hooked :P

Speaking of which, how those books comming along weedie?

Edit to add :

To perserve the Clerics Quintet, I myself opened an GS account, made the char's for every major person in the series, and leveled them to 15. Then Closed the account. I refuse to see those char's running around, ruining it.

The GS famous Drizzet (how does he spell his name?) pisses me off to no end. Not only does he give the name a bad taste, he is NOT EVEN THE SAME RACE as the book char. UGH.

I've got to agree with the you on how good R.A. Salvatore writes. I've read all of his books except the newish one .. Highwayman?( I think that's it)
but I've just started reading Steven Brust and I have to say I'm liking his Vlad Taltos series.

 Drizzt, RA Salvatore...Really digging the Dark Elf Trilogy, out of all the books I've read so far, Exile is my favorite. I'm with Adredrin...read his books and give them a chance...they're pretty great.

Raymond Feist is great. He did The Serpentwar series, and The Riftwar Saga, and a bunch of other books. Wonderful books. Buy them.

The Cleric Quintet is totally awesome.

Fantasy wise, I'm a big J Robert King fan. He wrote alot of the books in the Magic: The Gathering series, and his are by far the best ones.

Otherwise, I love Chuck Palahniuk (spelling?). All of his books are awesome, and I suggest to anyone who hasn't read Fight Club to go out and do so immeadiately. You can find it almost anywhere. Survivor is also totally awesome.

You guys rock.

R.A. Salvatore is awesome. Raymond Feist......awesome. David Eddings....awesome.

I personally enjoy Mercedes Lackey and the world of Valdemar. Check it out and enjoy a really kick ass series. I think there's 6 trilogies, and it falls into timelines. Start with the Last Herald-Mage, it is truly entrancing getting inside his motives/world.

You've got excellent taste, Artha. I'll fogive the Lewinsky beret incident for this, even. Feist has a new series, Talon of the Silver Hawk is the 1st book, and it totally kicks ass. :shibby:

I haven't read Salvatore's new series yet, I usually wait til the trilogy is done and buy it hardback. I might just break my tradition this time.

Another really, really good series is the one that starts with A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Seriously, a great one. A Feast of Crows needs to come out now.

My all time favorite author has been Anne McCaffrey. I love her Pern series, Acorna series, and her Tower and the Hive series.

Also Tanya Huff's summoner series is incredibly funny and sexy at the same time, if anyone adores cats it's also a good series to read.

Sylphsyte

I could ever get into her Acorna books, but I've got every single one of her other books. Even the ones that she's co-written.

anyone else read the Great Book of Amber? wasn't sure if I should start to read those. I'm always looking for original stories that won't bore me to sleep.

Robert Crais.

He doesn't write fantasy stuff, but he's freaking awesome anyway. And I'm positive he won't bore anyone to sleep.

A really good fantasy series is the Forbidden Borders series by W. Michael Gear.

Since it's sort of on topic I'd like to say, I am quite upset! I was reading through this book quickly because I wanted to reach the next book which should be a bit happier. Last night I realized the book I bought at the bookstore was the eighth book, not the fourth, and if I finish this book tonight I won't be able to start the happy book!

Artha

Is too! I was promised that finally in the next book they'd be together rather than being apart for 980 pages and together for 5
