View Full Version : Another reason we won't see GMs in Shattered for awhile

On the officials, by the PC handle Shawman, or IG in Shattered Norlamin/Eschalon/Reaper.

Thread title: Wyrom, for the love of god, please share this with your team. on 05/21/2012 05:12 PM EDT

I do appreciate whomever takes 2 minutes to read this. If your a GM or are an affiliate of Simutronics, get some blood flowing, "Man or Woman up," and share this with your "team." Go Simucon. DO YOU HEAR THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH?

Maybe someone should simply mention Shattered on Simutronics part, PLEASE DO THIS, via front page on Play.net, in announcements, (without excuses, or why its our fault we didnt catch you), or for the humor of it, on the calendar we have ZERO part of. I think for the lack of attention out here we should, at bare minumum, recieve *****"NOTICE ON OFFICIAL CHANNELS"*** "PRIOR" to ANY *"GM"*** presence. ANYONE ELSE FEEL NUMB???? To think that it is difficult to tell when you WILL be here, shows out of 365 days, your effort in Shattered any given year that isnt forced upon you, is non-existant. Its getting to be like a ghost town in Shattered 6-9 months out of the year, and it always has been.(please dont be clueless why there isnt a soul here, its no longer a matter of he said she said, its that your never here). "Any GM could show up," you guys just aren't worth it, is kinda all im gathering here. This is epic with monks and effort expanding, but, this is about time for characters in Shattered, not about why that time doesn't exist, this is about why it should. Im sure that it would help if someone mentioned that we exist. Don't need anyone to actually show up per say...but maybe announce when you WILL be HERE, and or, mention that we exist, "you happily recognize this fact." Its kinda hit and miss the entire year), to think you gotta be at the keyboard for 5 months to catch a GM. Getting a lil old. Im not a typical complainer. We script here, not announcing a visit is kinda like the President not running for The Commander in Chief, he doesnt have to, he just becomes President, with "ZERO backround". Shattered is badass and to think y'all just blow it off for whatever reason, is BS. We're easy, fun and well minded, these days anyhow. You have every reason to be here. No reason at all not to be here. This is just getting a lil silly to pay 60 a month only to have nothing to do but wait 2 months to fixskill. Well, now that that's over, wow, all men even. I am a firm beleiver that it isn't all "our" fault that it gets a lil negative out here in these parts. 60$ a month to not even have GM's announce WHEN they will be here is just unprofessional. Im not talking effort and time, when and when not, its unprofessional. "We didn't say this, we didn't say that." Maybe doing nothing at all should at least BE MENTIONED so we don't feel guilty when someone DOES show up, and just doesn't tell or warn a soul its going to happen. On a silly note, how much enjoyment us dirty ol bastards DO get when you let us KNOW your going to be HERE, why not give notice, or let us know we exist on the effort platform? Honestly, what actually "prevents" YOU from showing up and giving us a couple hours once a month for a spinoff or to simply kill ME? I don't want to hear this whole "were not obligated sob story!" Obligation has nothing to do with conducting an entertainment company. Nothing. You dont even mention us...then when you show up, you use our negativity to the betterment of your own laziness and claim nobody was there. ( Wyrom this isn't directly pointed at you, but i know you know what i mean) Maybe I should be or feel obligated to JUDGE when it comes to Shattered as well, your all just lazy for us. Laziness is someone who gives zero attempt at a job they "should" get done. Not has to, "should". Fact- Shattered is a ghost town over half of the year. Fact- to fix that 6 month drought, it would only take maybe a few visits totalling less than 12 hours of your EVER SO BUSY LIVES we know nothing about, INCLUDING notice to visits. There are Four thousand three hundred and twenty hours in a six month period roughly. In my theory that you provide maybe enough attention for half the year, and im asking that you be here 12 hours for the non-event staffed other half of the year, that means im asking your presence, IM ASKING YOUR HERE 1/360 OF THAT HALF OF THE YEAR!!!!! Again, 12 hours out of half a year is 1/360 portion of said six months!!! AGAIN THATS One in three hundred and sixty!! Your blowing my mind, im having to ask that your basically here one day out of the year and that seems realistic to me. Starting to follow? 12 hours comprised of maybe 5 visits in six months is 1/360th of the time HERE IN SHATTERED Simutronics. Please feel free to come back at me with 2-bit un-witty moronic comments on how you are doing your best. That is just pathetic at best. Ive personally seen everyone here ask for notice to ANY AT ALL GM presence, because it simply DOESNT EXIST!!!!! HEEE HEEEMMM. Even the polite guys. 12 hours from you, with 6 2 hour visits, makes 6 months for us better. So sorry your busy, figure it out. STAY LONGER THAN 45 MINUTES for gods sake. STAY 2 HOURS, 6 times!!!!! thats 1/360% of your time for the ENTIRE YEAR, CRY ME A NON-EXISTANT RIVER, and take our subscription money while your at it why don't you!!! SO SO BUSY. 1/360. lmmfao.
For how much "notice" Prime gets for every little Elven artifact or some random weird and whatnot, blows my mind shattered doesnt get 12 hours of your time, making up about 6 visits(about once a month for anything) in six months. Wow- Again, 12 hours on simutronics part via GM announcements for Shattered, makes 6 months of zero Simu Presence in Shattered go, "POOF." ( shoe fly, dont bother me )( Dont tell me your working on it either. Not a damn thing has changed in 9 months. If anything its gotten worse.) I think we are all smart enough to know that you guys claim its not your obligation to do so, WE know it is a "little" more than that. I do not feel gifted you simply allow me to script Gemstone. Neither should any character that comes from Prime to SHATTERED or any other combination of account in SHATTERED, and PAYS FOR IT. Paying for entertainment and feeling gifted is when you lay a red carpet for the king. Im laying no carpet here people. I think its about time YOU started showing up in shattered, taking responsibility for us, taking responsibility for Shattered, earning our respect in Shattered, making Shattered want to be a part of Simucon, announcing when things WILL happen in Shattered, and take responsibility for pissing away my time when your not. Shattered is tempered via mad handled GM's that dont exist 99% of the time (don't hurt your brains doing math), whom announce their participation prior to actually being here about 1 out of 20 times.. Time to evolve. Not make excuses. Dedicated time here, where is that time? Thanks again for PASSING THIS MESSAGE ON TO YOUR TEAM. This, to MYSELF, is valued much higher than a simple reply, because honestly, in 9 months of playing, I've heard it all. From we dont deserve it, to we're not realistic. I wonder why. You made promises you didn't keep for years. If you have any dignity in your effort toward resposibility for Shattered, now would be a good time to start showing up and letting us know when your going to do so 1/360th of the time. Have a nice day. If this is an unrealistic request please feel free to explain how were are so spoiled here and dont deserve 6 scheduled 2 hour GM visits, THAT YES HAPPEN ONCE A MONTH OR SO, IN 6 MONTHS!!!! That is 1/360 of time here. Look at the hour ratio for the other worlds and give us the same respect. Or, 1 in 360th of your time. Now, Look at yourselves. Claiming your efforts here in Shattered via GM Presence and whatnot, to be at 50%, is a joke. (nowhere near 50% do we get from you, i would say about 10% of the time i pay 60 dollars a month im getting my moneys worth) On that note, should i pay 10 dollars a month for the Subscription prices making a 30 dollar commitment, at 50%, that i still feel to be too much? Or, just drop 2 accounts only to maintain one and feel like im getting screwed like most of the people who join Shattered? Now, look at yourselves again. That is ignorance and greed your looking at. Time to face the facts. Shattered exists, and your never here to show it. Thanks a lot.

Yeah, me too. I haven't gotten more than 30% of the way thru it before my mind became full of fuck on two attempts. It looks like the usual SHAWMAN madness (GMs don't visit enough, simu sux, I hate you all) minus any restraint or punctuation.

Wasn't the whole point of Shattered to have it so there wasn't GM involvement? Hehe

Well yeah, to some extent. Pretty much every Shattered player would love GM involvement as far as enchants and alters and whatnot, but most go about it with more of a "Hey please woulja stop by soon" kind of attitude.

That's a pretty long rant.

Since it's shattered, and GMs aren't obligated to be there or intereact or whatever, why don't they create a system (like premium points) that allows the shattered people to alter/enhance items based on time in game/fame/silvers/whatever, that way if the GMs don't feel like stopping in for the next six months, it's not that big of a deal

Because ranting and raving at people always makes them feel like spending their time on you.

Indeed. It only makes matters worse that he completely disregards anything he's been told about how the company and it's volunteers operate. It's almost like we haven't told him countless times that any GMs showing up to Shattered are doing so on their free time, provided their normal, "required" GM duties are taken care of. They simply aren't obligated to do things in Shattered for us, even at paid merchant events.

Eh, they lack a lot of skilled coders? I mean shit, it's taken around 10 years to develop monks and unless I missed something, they're still not done. A system like premium points... they can't even get the current fucking system implemented over there for us. Trust me when I say this: They will not be creating systems specifically for Shattered. Even if they COULD, they wouldn't.

Second sentence on the Shattered signup page, and presumably one of the major selling points:

Although the world and game may look the same at first, you'll soon see that life in Shattered is quite different because there is virtually no GameMaster moderation or intervention!

There's almost no GMs interacting in an instance advertised as having almost no GMs interacting! Who'd have thunk it?

From what it sounds like, they have been around for more than 12 hours. I think you mean they should be around for more time based on your schedule and when you're at the keyboard. I imagine it is seen as a waste of time to try to provide services to a bunch of characters being run by a bunch of scripts.

Don't blame it on the drugs. Reference my last post for the explanation of his idiocy. Drugs are good. People are bad. Remember this... drugs don't do stupid people any favors, but they were already stupid without the drugs.

And rainbows and unicorns? You know, considering that my ex-wife was covered head to toes in rainbow star tattoos, I just don't see anything involving rainbows and stars in my future. She didn't have any when I met her, and over the course of 7 years they just kept coming. Looked trashy as fuck but she wouldn't listen.

I feel like I have lost many IQ points doing this translation. For those that want the TL;DR:

Whiny bitch is whiny, doesn't read the information that Shattered is a free-for-all, where the GMs don't HAVE to do shit for you. :welcome:

Translation: Please put shattered events on the calendar, in the events forum, and on the front page.

Translation: Where are the GM's? I WAS TOLD THERE WERE GOING TO BE GM's HERE! I'M SO LONELY!

Translation: I'M SO LONELY! Pay us some attention, even though we bought into Shattered knowing that we wouldn't get GM interaction! Pay us that attention while planning a move of all the hardware in three racks, beta-testing monks, a HUGE on-going event in Prime involving two major towns and three races (at least)!

Translation: I'M SO LONELY with my 3 accounts!

Translation: Even though the info about no GM interaction is plainly listed and available for anyone to read, YOU GM's SHOULD STILL INTERACT AND TELL US YOU'RE GOING TO! Also, I'm so lonely and now I feel USED.

Interesting. I was actually thinking of Clutch - Four Lords

Oh that Appalachian Way runs from Georgia clear up to Maine.
Oh that Carolina sand runs from Kill Devil Hills out to cold Greenland.
Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord.
Na, na, na, na, na.
Can you summon fire baby with a simple flint and stone?
If you can't then baby you better go back to what you know.
Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord.
Na, na, na, na, na.
Who put me in heavy metal? If you know the answer I don't care.
I have a kick ass harpsichord. That's right.
I saw you dancing with the devil, I tell ya kid you're better off
Playing leap-frog with a unicorn. That's right.
Hang on, it's along road to where we go.

So I guess Wyrom replied. Everything's all cleared up now right?

Actually, I don't know I still can't make sense of it.

Hey there. Sorry I'm late to the discussion. Let me just address the situation as a whole.

As you all know, Shattered is a volunteer-only place, when it comes to live GameMasters and Merchants in the game. With that said, there are some of us that like to come in every now and then and give you some love. Speaking strictly for myself, I'm pretty swamped. I'll probably be back in a few times over the course of the year, but it's not as easy as you guys like to think it is when it comes to just "popping" in. There is a lot more to GMing than just merchanting and invading. I spend most my GM time preparing for events, managing my team of GameHosts in Prime, and coding small things for players to interact with (scripted items, not systems). My big project right now is an Albatross re-write, which doesn't really effect Shattered, but I do bring it out over here. I also train the new GMs, which is a very large time commitment. But on a given day, I try to be in game a few hours, and those hours I usually spend on my projects. I've barely had the time to do much outside that all. And I've been having a lot going on in my personal life.

But that brings up the other side of coming over here. When we do merchant, you guys don't just want alters, or if you do, it's very few people. Months ago, we all had that discussion about how we still have to get permissions and approvals to give out special services. Yes, I know the other side of the discussion, this is Shattered, you guys think there should be no rules in that regard. But the bottom line is we do. I allotted my cache of approvals that I have with Gostahl's Dicing the last time I was here, for the entire year. So I'm sort of tapped on high end services until the next festival or event.

As for the whole "this is a reason GMs don't come to Shattered" or "Shattered drama," I really don't know about the Shattered drama that goes on. The only thing that will detour me from wanting to come here are my availability, and constantly being hounded for high end services when I don't have any to give. That might be my only gripe about Shattered. If I say no, just no. It's something I'd like a little more mutual respect on so we CAN enjoy stuff when I do have time to be here.

That is the first reply to any of my tiger blood grenades. I have one question. Where are the gm's you train Wyrom? It took me two months of you explaining that your to busy these days. Trust me, I understand. If it wasn't for you, I would have quit by now too. On a positive note Wyrom, I'm the only person in all of gemstone who is trying to get this crap done. I'm the only one who claimed monks would happen in the next year or so and stuck to my word. I am the only one in the entire game that I know of that does stick to some positivity and keeps to it, believe it or not. I trust you Wyrom. Feel free to repeat yourself once again about this volunteer thing, but when are you gonna figure out we NEED you to give us notice on the officials before a visit. I understand you simply exhausted what you could do for us. Now what do you think about scheduling some newb GMs for actual scheduled visits a couple times a year. That helps us, the newb GMs, and we don't need this "drama." volunteering can still be something you post on the officials to give people whom are away from keyboard 99% of the time a descent chane of catching you, or them. Doesn't it make sense to post for us on that behalf? This is the first time out of 20 posts or so I've ever gotten a reply, also only 1 out of 10 gm visits I've actually seen posted beforehand, which was done by you because I think about two or more players, which are to remain unnamed, said that you should at least announce our semi-annual visit. If it is your responsibility to train them, help them set up a time as well? Right now, and always, you've been completely honest with me. I mean we could probably come up with a lil cash for the trainees you know? Let us work something out. I'd rather feel like I'm crazy on the forums, than grovel at your feet, when I know you don't want me to. Thank you for your time man, really this is probably the greatest effort from this topic since shattered began. At this point, I'm not asking more, just asking you post on the officials prior to any gm visits from your trainees or yourself. It worked great the one time you did it, let's exploit that and move on.

Wyrom-

I don't want to get all emotional, however- I just lost my best friend to a motorcycle accident 2 weekends ago, missed his memorial because I was a best man in a wedding that day, and I too for that matter am in a failing marraige. My Mom is sick, my sister is sick and my wife is sick. From what I gather my dad ain't doing that well either. I have plenty of stuff in life to be humble about. Especially you right now, I've only written to you in game and whatnot, and I trust you with this information because your a genuine character. Don't let a fuxking soul let you feel otherwise either. I know that in eras like these, having a big heart doesn't make things any easier. I don't want anything more from you, you've given me everything you can and then some. All I ask is you talk to your guys about making sure you post on the officials with somewhat of a time range of a volunteer. Nothing more, nothing less. In the end of this I feel guilt more than pleasure. My teammates think I'm crazy, and the rest just don't think anything will ever happen period. I was telling you the truth about the monks and about keeping true to myself to find some resolution, for myself. I do not think for them, you, or anyone else for that matter. I do have ambition, and I do think I have great ideas. Your a god amongst men Wyrom- I see right through that GM gig and see someone who may just be hurtig as much as myself. I am proud to have been affiliated with you. My e-mail is nathanmshaw@hotmail.com Use that email to reach me. At least provide me yours so I can better explain what I can do for you. Keep your head up man. Life's a bitch and then I die. Please, tell your trainees to have character like you, not just maddened rabid dogs, also tell them to just immolate me, or anything of that nature, come up with evil or something. I care more my friends get some fun at this point. "Just a quiet, Peaceful Death!"

Oh and I was wondering how long it would take before a grammar nazi came in to pick the low hanging fruit. Ok it's fruit on the ground. Whatever.

So I have to wonder if he's abusing his gay or locking him up in a closet or somethign.

... and Sleken, the aparrent father of Shattered's final response.

Here's a direct reply SHAWMAN. To you and you alone.

When I suggested paragraphs, that was because your posts are hard to read. It was a suggestion so you could BETTER get your point across.

<<...judge me because of this text, and prove yourself dominantly divine while your at it...>>

I am judging you on this text. I have no other way to judge you. I am not divine and have never claimed to be.

<<I'll be completely honest with you Sleken, you don't deserve my respect until you've earned it>>

That's ok. Goes both ways.

<<On a peaceful note, just know whatever reason your not posting before you show up, you guys never addressed it. You also have never provided an actual reason you cant do it.>>

Here's the deal. Shattered is volunteer only. No GM is assigned to Shattered. GM's are free to come to Shattered. Most of the time this occurs as the GM has a free hour or so. They may or may not know about this in advance. If you want us to force all GM's to post about their events in advance every time, well, you're going to have a drastic reduction in total events. Wyrom has tried to explain this at least twice.

This was explained when Shattered was created. You were notified of it when you subscribed. You want facts? Here's one. The price you are paying for Shattered was set with the idea of maintenance only GM work.

Now then, I get that you want this to change. Questions is, are you willing to pay for it to change?

Another fact: Shattered would not be open now if it wasn't for me. I am the one that buckled down and modified a ton of code for Shattered. I was not assigned to do it. I chose to because I wanted the instance. Let's dispense with the "Sleken doesn't give a crap about Shattered" bull.

<<Kinda makes me understand why you don't care to address the notification or other things I've posted about.>>

Ok, on this one I'm a bad bad man. I don't know what the other things are. As for notifications, read my reply above.

Please stop calling me a god and or divine. .

Much love for Sleken. That's a pretty PC bitch slap.

... and Cupcake's second affirmation that Shattered will be off her list now.

I took offense at "It's none of the GMs at simu do anything they don't have to because their either lazy or don't give a shit. For you GMs that have some delusion that it's not anything but your own laziness, your the ones who don't deserve your position as GM. Excell your company you lazy priests."

I come around in Shattered more than I come around Platinum. I should be coding, not Cupcake-ing. I'll stop being so lazy and get to work, doing the work I should be doing. And that isn't in Shattered..

wonder what kinda price change Sleken would make for that to happen

Well, one less reason for me to come back whenever the whim strikes.

I was wondering how long it would take for the GM's to respond as such. You can only take so much abuse when you're not getting paid for it.

Seriously though, I say fuck the GMs for jumping to "fuck shattered" mode based on the ramblings of a complete lunatic.

A return to sanity from the GMs (or at least Wyrom) in the last paragraph here.

Going into Fatboy Slim/Lord Finesse at the end of a forum post is pretty crazy.

Anyway, I just wanted to add one thing. I don't know why I got idolized here. In fact, of those that do come here, I'm probably really low on the totem pole. I appreciate some of you thinking so highly of me, but Vanah definitely has put more time in to just hanging out with you guys than I ever did. There are a number of GMs who put time in here, either by hanging out, or via game maintenance, whether directly or indirectly.

For the rest of Shattered who hasn't chimed in but is following along, we know these thoughts don't represent all of Shattered. Does it sting a little to hear some of the stuff aimlessly directed at some GMs? Probably a good bit. Just try to chill and appreciate what we can offer when we can offer it.

I think you need a new hobby.

But I like calling you a dick. I could have gone further and truthfully called you unoriginal, annoying, and stupid as well, but I try to keep things civil.

Please, tell your trainees to have character like you

This is like some eminem "Stan" type shit. I hope Wyrom is slowly backing away from Shattered before this guy gets 2 b rl bad son.

I know, right? Kinda scary. I think you're right though, Wyrom and the other GMs that have responded on the officials all appear to be backing away from Shattered as if it's a rabid dog. Wyrom made a comment about knowing how Shattered can't be represented by one person, but I think it's obvious that damage has been done. So, Shawman will spend alot of time dead in Shattered.

Mr. Shawman, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yeah, I stole that...

I think that's a safe assumption - I PMed him a while ago and offered him $500 for his accounts and he never responded.

i read a third of it. Whatever point you were trying to make is lost in the crushing weight of words and semi-coherent babble that made no point at all. It would be better had you just wrote "moar gmz plz" and signed it with a thumbprint.
