Hi, All:
So I decided to come back to Gemstone after a break, and I can no longer stay connected to Lich on one of my characters. Here's the message I get:
[server]: "Your login name is protected by a password, but you don't have an e-mail address saved on the server for password recovery. You're doing it wrong."
I believe I know what my password is, but I don't seem to have any opportunity to enter it or update the settings to include my e-mail address. The password appears to be contained in my lich/data/GSF/<charname>/lnet.sav file.
Is there something I can do to resolve this, or does Tillmen have to manually reset my lnet info server side?

P.S. I tried reinstalling Lich as was suggested in a similar thread. Unfortunately, it didn't help.

;lnet password=<password>
should do the trick.
You are correct, it is stored plaintext on your machine. Open the *.sav file and it appears to start at byte 0x11.

The problem is that I am instantly disconnected from lnet and the game before I can type anything.
--- Lich: updater active.
--- Lich: lnet active.
--- Lich: uberbar active.
--- Lich: sorter active.
--- Lich: infomon active.
If you have forgotten your password, and you have set an e-mail address for password recovery, send an e-mail to lichnet@lichproject.org with the subject "reset GSF:Banjo"
To attempt to log in with a different password, type: ;lnet password=<password>
[voodoo: voodoo started]
--- Lich: lnet has exited.
--- Lich: updater has exited.
[voodoo: voodoo exited]
--- Lich: sorter has exited.
--- Lich: uberbar has exited.
--- Lich: infomon has exited.

* Connection to the game has been lost. You will need to login again to continue playing.

The above log was after I re-installed Lich. Before re-installing Lich (i.e., with my lnet.sav file intact), it wouldn't even give me the message about sending an e-mail to lichnet@lichproject.org for a reset.

You have more problems than just lnet, you're being booted from the game. Failing to connect to lnet won't cause that. There's been a few threads here about how to handle it, but the most common one seems to be logon from the website (no lich), move one room over, logout, then try again with lich.
After you can maintain a game connection...
;k lnet
;lnet password=<password>

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

Yep. That worked. It had nothing to do with the password. Thanks again for the help!

I just log in with SGE instead of the website, it seems to work just fine.
