Ranged, What?

I'm returning to the lands and always wanted to play a Ranger. I have read these forums and am currently playing a lvl 6 Ranger with 22 days left on the free portion of my account.

I was wondering at what point should I start to switch from OHE to ranged weapons? I was thinking towards the end of my free trial but your thoughts would be appreciated. Also can anyone provide a brief of what ranged weapon entails? Just looking for the basics such as what stats are essential to be productive and the basic formula for determining AS within the ranged class.

Any additional thoughts would be appreciated!

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out. I am done with my 30 day trial and have decided that being a ranger is not my calling. I will decide what to do next but am very optimistic that I will continue within the game.
