I assume I'm just really hungover and missing something obvious, but no matter how hard I stare at this log I just made I can't figure out where the second crawler came from.

The Rift]
The dining hall is full of shadows, lit only dimly by guttering candles. Around the table sit nine skeletons, each holding a golden cup. The undead seem to be chatting, drinking from their chalices only to have the liquid flow out and over their ribcages. With a wave of disgust, you realize that the skeletons are drinking blood. You also see an enormous rift crawler.

Does that have anything to do with it?

Nah, its a known bug that crawlers can appear in a room without any messaging. I think it happens if they spawn but don't burrow but I could be wrong.

Jeril is right, it's a long-standing bug. It helps to open up a room window and keep an eye on it, as they'll show up there.
