View Full Version : Foraging item complaint!

My character is an empath. These days, it's very difficult for an empath to progress if one is not willing to plow through TSC and step on peer's toes. I don't hunt, and haven't been able to meet anyone for a static hunting party, so I do AG foraging and gem tasks (unless the gems are 10k each).

This is my complaint. Frequently, Akrash requires well over 5 of each item, often 10 of them, even though there is often merely one (1) room where they are available. Considering that truth, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to wait for each refreshing period in order to complete the task. If another poor soul needs anything from that particular room, well... you can imagine.

I'm not a programmer, but it seems logical that this could easily be solved by simply ensuring the items are available in at least two rooms (copying the info to an adjacent room). The worst area seems to be Varunar and the Icemule trail where you also freeze if you have to wait around long.

I hope someone with the ability to fix this will do so.

Thank you,
A disgruntled AG forager. (Joy)

You probably want to post this on the officials....

It's kind of difficult to feel bad for someone refusing to hunt for experience complain about the lack of experience they get. Also, why should it be easy for you? If you went to find an heirloom it could take you the same 20 minutes (or more) to find it that you need to wait for one room to re-stock itself with herbs. Bounties aren't intended to be "super easy here's some free experience for you" things, foraging or not.

Are you using this? (http://www.virilneus.com/roomdata/room.php) I've done hundreds of foraging bounties and it wasn't too often that I wasn't able to find at least two rooms, or had any real trouble using that site.

What Gwen said. Bounties are an added bonus, not a guarantee or something you're entitled to complete with zero difficulty/effort.

I would be interested to hear why you don't hunt. Is it an RP thing, or is your character trained poorly? If it's the latter, I would have to say that's on you and you're not going to get a lot of sympathy from anyone about foraging tasks taking a "ridiculous amount of time" when you're dependent on them due to your own poor planning.

nd it wasn't too often that I wasn't able to find at least two rooms, or had any real trouble using that site.

There are a couple of herbs for AG bounties that are only found in one specific room, but those are relatively rare.

As others have said, it is hard to feel sympathy for someone who chooses not to hunt, and in addition, it is very hard to feel any sympathy for an empath complaining about foraging difficulty (given the profession bonuses for foraging for empaths.)

Is it just me or are empaths the bounty machine profession? Best spells for escorts and heirlooms, can hunt (whether or not you want to), can skin, can forage, and can 3x PF (at warrior cost).

I posted in this spot hoping a person from the GS team would see it and see it for what it is, nothing more. I didn't expect the comments from players, but I completely and totally understand your disgust about an empath who doesn't want to hunt. I've played most types of characters, some to over 150 before cap and 100 after cap, so I know how to hunt and used to love doing so. I'm primarily in the game now to watch and enjoy lich chat. Weird, I know, but it beats any scrolling chat room because of the shared interests I have with all of you. I do not wish to have a mule character to carry my junk so I can hunt. I have all the stuff I've collected over a lot of years and it's not a pursuit I want to do at this time. I do, however, still enjoy getting to train once in a great while, so I do those 2 tasks when I can get them. As I said, I don't try to "nod quickest" to get healing experience and barely even go to TSC unless on lich someone says, "TSC needs empath" and when one comes along, I leave it to them if they stay more than a couple of minutes. I think I'm overly fair at trying to enjoy this game to my specific desires at this point in time. I really DO appreciate ya'lls comments and conversations on lnet very much, even if I don't contribute ad nauseam :-)

My post stands as is for anyone who might address it mechanically, thank you again, Joy

GMs may browse these forums from time to time but at the players' corner, your audience will be lopsided. GMs aren't even allowed to post here. At play.net, some GMs are required to read certain areas of the forums.

No one is disgusted by an empath not hunting (there's plenty of others like that) but no one will be sympathetic to someone who willfully limits themselves and is upset about their lack of options. You're complaining about a subset of a subset of a subset of ways to get experience in one of many towns. If you want exp, try just about anything else.

Stepping back a bit further, you're playing the best profession in the game (at least according to most), are upset about performance in an area they excel at, and are posting about it on a player-only forum expecting to get GM and not player attention. I'm really not trying to be a dick, just step back and look at that picture.

I don't think you can say it better than that.
