You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
You explode into a fury of strikes and ripostes, moving with a singular purpose and will!
An Ithzir herald is awakened by your attack!
You swing a sonic short sword at an Ithzir herald!
AS: +550 vs DS: +281 with AvD: +26 + d100 roll: +70 = +365
... and hit for 78 points of damage!
Strike to left arm shatters elbow and severs forearm!
The herald's steel shield falls to the ground.
The Ithzir herald is stunned!
You swing a sonic short sword at an Ithzir herald!
AS: +550 vs DS: +227 with AvD: +26 + d100 roll: +40 = +389
... and hit for 80 points of damage!
Strike to right arm cleanly severs it at the shoulder!
The herald's crystal-edged blade falls to the ground.

Your series of strikes and ripostes leaves you winded and out of position.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
>stance o
attack
...wait 1 seconds.
>...wait 1 seconds.
>stance o
attack
You are now in an offensive stance.
>You swing a sonic short sword at an Ithzir herald!
AS: +550 vs DS: +222 with AvD: +26 + d100 roll: +8 = +362
... and hit for 67 points of damage!
Strike to wrist severs right hand!

** As you hit, your short sword unleashes a blast of sonic energy! **

... 10 points of damage!
Light blow to left leg.
Roundtime: 4 sec.

You already severed the right arm on the first attack. On the second attack, you sever the right hand.

How can something without an arm still have a hand.

That has been broken for years, you think they would have fixed it by now. Doubt it's in the HSN list, though.

You're using a short sword?

True, it might have been a trick question.

You can hit roa'ters and stuff on the arms and legs, and iirc on the shield arm :?:

Short swords are great against certain armor groups.

Stupid wizards wouldn't know anything about that.. though would they!!

>You swing a sonic short sword at an Ithzir initiate!
AS: +525 vs DS: +352 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +17 = +225
... and hit for 60 points of damage!
Shot destroys eye and the brain behind it!
The Ithzir initiate vainly struggles to rise, then goes still.
Roundtime: 4 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.

When I was OHE I used a falchion and a handaxe. Both I could swing at once a second.

Now that I'm in polearms it depends on what I'm hunting as to what I use.

I can see the advantage of a short sword while ambusing for squishy parts but just swinging is it really always that effective?

You can death crit cyclops on both eyes. It's just the messaging for the crits.

With cyclops now if you crit the left eye it jus shows some damage and no crit message but it still dies. Also you can target ambush the left eye because technically it doesnt have one.

You can, however, aim left eye as an archer.

As for reason to use the short sword, now days, its a LOT easier to aim the smaller the weapon is you use. My level 15 rogue was missing what he aimed for (head) about 70% of the time with a falchion, I switched to a dagger, and aimed for the eye, and had a 85-90% hit ratio at the same level.

My level 15 rogue swings a bastard sword and doesn't have a problem hitting things...

I honestly think its easier for me to aim this bastard sword than the fist-scythes I had.
