So I hear real gems are back, out in the world of Elanthia just waiting to be discovered.
Anyone here ever find one, or know someone who found one? Are the gems decent or are they the garden variety ones you can usually buy in jewelry form at Wal Mart for $21.99?

They are cheap quality gems. I'd rather have a gift of adventure, or a Dhu ticket.

Those cubit zirconias are so purty tho.

Haha, I found a clear zircon about two years ago in Solhaven behind a curtain at the inn.
It's such a small sliver of it, and it comes with some stupid certificate.

LOL Oh boy.
I hope the return of these things aren't to be included in the list of "new and exciting" HSN releases or what have you.
Man, a clear zircon. You couldn't even get a citrine, you got a clear zircon. Haha..that's weak.

You didnt realize that HSN stood for Home Shopping Network.

Apparantly there have been Real Gems that have remained hidden for years and years without anybody even coming close to finding them.
Regardless, I've always thought the promotion was kind of cheesy, but still a nice little bonus for anybody lucky enough to look in, on, behind, or under the right thing in the right room. I've heard that the quality of the gems (if the person who won it even receives it, as I've heard of people never getting their won gem) is pretty pitiful. They're basically common gems that you could find at any big park if you look carefully enough. No expensive shit like diamonds or emeralds or rubies. It's always quartzes and zircons and stuff.
You could probably find better quality gems for cheap at a flea market somewhere, if you're into that kinda thing.

Hell, if anyone wants some gems let me know. My step-father cuts and shapes gems. We've got Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires, even a few diamonds in the back room.

Can I have a diamond, Adredrin? :loveu:
Oh, not one of those big ugly yellow ones they use for saws, either.

I'll take a ruby, if you're just giving things out.

I know a couple people that won some recently. They were both Peridots. I'm guessing Simu staff goes to some local museum, buys a bunch in the gift shop, and then they hide them in game.
I wonder if you have to pay shipping on your zircons. 6.99 to ship a 2.00 'gem'. Heh.

The game is called Gemstone...
Personally, I think it's a pretty cool promotion. Who cares if it's valuable or not?

I wonder would people really want diamonds handed out so then Simu would charge us $20.00 for a basic account?

If they had to, I'm sure this is what they'd do. (http://search.ebay.com/Gemstones_Diamond_W0QQcatrefZC2QQfromZR8QQsacatego ryZ10210)

I doubt highly my step-father would GIVE them away..but if your seriously interested..I can talk to him to find out how much he wants. I know he sells all the cut gems EXCEPT the diamonds. He is saving all of those for another ring for my mother.

I found one a couple years ago. It was "a fine golden citrine". It was definitely the $21.99 Wal-Mart kind, and $21.99 is pushing it.
Despite that, I think it's a cool promotion. I've never played any other games where you can actually win something real, even if it is Cracker Jack quality.
It'd be cool to win a high quality sniper rifle for scoring 100 headshots in a row on Counter-Strike though...

And just because this thread happens to be the one open on my browser:
You offer to sell your light pink knapsack to the pawnbroker.
The pawnbroker takes your light pink knapsack, glances at it briefly, then hands you 4 silver coins.

So there are hidden gems throught the lands, or just in town?

Gems are hidden throughout the lands, Joxter. One could be hidden almost anywhere. :)

But how do you even find one? Stumble into the room or search the room?

Like I said, Leloo, a gem could be anywhere. I would think you would most certainly have to search a room to find one, though.

Generally the real gems are hidden in places that don't need to be searched out. They are usually on, inside, under, or behind objects that already exist in the game but usually don't have anything placable in those regions. Check arches, doors, chairs, any object that highlights in stormfront.
I even know people who have scripts that look for objects in room descriptions for such purposes.

Really? Why would you care that much if it's a worthless gem? Or do they look just to see if people left behind something valuable?

I just looked behind a curtain, saw a gem, and grabbed it.
I was just very bored and exploring the new town.

When I found mine a year or 2 ago, it was behind the rockslide in Foggy Valley.
You see a fine golden citrine behind the rockslide.
>get citrine
