I'm trying to get information on piercings, and piercing care... and I'm not finding a lot. Anyone have any good resources, or have any info to share?

Primary question, how does one tell if a piercing is infected? Is there a way to check, or do you have to wait for ambient messaging? Once infected, is there a way to "un-infect" it, or do you have to remove it and start over? I know that you can cast 1101 (Heal) on them, or pour whiskey or tincture of Acantha, but I'm not sure if this is only used for preventive maintenance, or if it can also be used to cure infected piercings.

I know tincture of acantha will also kill infections.

You need to use whiskey/acantha/heal for preventative maintenance or the piercing will get infected. Undisease will temporarily remove the infection, but the infection isn't permanent anyhow. The chance of infection is reduced if the person doing the piercing is trained in first aid.

I have done a few piercings. I've always casted fire spirit at the needle to make it hot.

If the needle is not sharp, get a smooth stone. I think you 'rub needle on stone' or something similar.

I prefer to use a tincture of acantha over whiskey because of the long stun time the whiskey creates.

If I recall from the last time I messed around with piercings (5 or 6 years ago), using a tincture of acantha still uses mana, and if you don't have enough, it'll fry your nerves.

Ahhh, excellent. Thanks for the feedback, folks!

The problem I've been encountering is that I currently have two new-ish piercings: one I've never had problems with, and the other one occasionally gives the "Your X is leaking pus" message, which I assume indicates an infection. Casting Heal (1101) on both of them immediately after said message usually has no appreciable effect on the infected piercing, but gives the "scours away all signs of infection" on the other piercing... which I've never had trouble with. Which is weird, and is how I came to the conclusion that piercings couldn't be "uninfected" once they had shown signs of infection. So far, I have not seen the infected piercing give the "scours away all signs of infection" message when Healed.

I'm wondering if the infection will eventually go away on its on, as taking measures against it doesn't seem to be working.

Undisease will help with the flaking skin and pus leaking.

I don't know if this is true or confirmed, but I had someone tell me once that if she had two new piercings at a time then she was unable to disinfect the second one each time. So it might be related to two new piercings at the same time instead.
