So I am having a frustrating weekend with my monitor(s).
Friday night my monitor was acting up. It would not display anything and whether it was on or off, the blue light indicating it had a signal would toggle on and off. I run it through a splitter so I can switch between my xbox and computer on it. I tried to directly connect it to the xbox, same result. I assumed the monitor, which is 5 years old, was just shot.
I have a backup monitor and used it. It worked fine Friday night and Saturday, but this morning I had the same issue with the second monitor. Now I think there is something more troubling happening.
Advice?

I was going to say videocard issue but if you're getting the same problem with the xbox i'm not sure. Buy a new monitor!
First thing I thought was video card. Make sure it is seated firmly. I have had back to back monitors go out on me also.
HP S2031 is still a good deal at $90.

Try a different cable.

Tried a different cable, no better. Given that it's not working with the xbox either, I don't think it is the video card. Is it possible that a computer virus could infect a monitor? Seems crazy to me, but I'd like to rule that out before I hook up a new monitor.

Perfect. Then I just got a perfect excuse to buy a nice monitor. Haven't bought one in years - pretty excited!

Might be late to the post but I'm using the vs248 and enjoy it. Had to tweak some profiles but it's that much better for it.

Newegg has a warehouse in TN so I try to use amazon or tiger direct to avoid sales tax when possible.
