Thanks.

Starts at noon PDT so you got time to DL the beta client and get your bnet set up now.

Is it the full game? I heard a lot of people say the beta was pretty short and unspectacular.

It's not that exciting. The content is super easy (only normal) and can be played through in a little over an hour. It is useful to find out what class you want though.

Error 3005 anyone?

I guess their login servers are getting hammered.

Sure, they just have do this on 4/20. If I didn't have plans to be out of town and all over the place this weekend I'd check this out. Unfortunately even Diablo 3 isn't as important as this weekend's celebrations.

Yeah I'm not too happy about it either, I had plans for this weekend, don't suspect I'll get to play the beta much, but I just want to get logged in and see how it runs. Maybe Sunday I'll get to try out the classes and see which I like best.

So far I would say the stress test fails..

I keep getting server is busy error messages trying to log in.

Also it's now saying I haven't yet bought the game. lol.

Don't worry guys I just emailed Blizzard and told them to take the sides off their diablo servers.

They are getting database errors because of their rep system.

Nice. I'll email them and offer to drill some holes too. I fucking love drilling holes!

Have not been able to connect yet. :/

Anyone playing lately? I'm trying it right now and the game is SOOOOO laggy, I'm hoping it's just part of the stress test and it's not because my computer sucks, my computer is only 2 years old.

Also I'm assuming you'll be able to respec your skills like you were able to do in WoW but will you also be able to redo your stats? That would be nice.

EDIT Nevermind, guess you don't choose your stats in this game.

Not really having much problem with lag yet myself.

Tgo01
04-20-2012, 08:31 PM
Now it's only lagging at certain times. Using my banner (whatever the heck it does) freezes the game up for a good 2 seconds, at scripted events when monsters spawn does the same thing, when I'm entering a new area for the first time I get slight lag or sometimes when I use my Barbarians "Hammer of the Ancients" attack it lags slightly. Otherwise I'm getting 60 FPS. I sure as heck hope this still has something to do with the beta.

I wanted to make a female warrior and name her Thunder Thighs. But I went with a monk. At work so I can't explore much. It is super choppy on my MacBook Air.

It's a stress test beta, lag is to be expected.

My "battletag" (wtf these things are) is Eschaton#1982 (Apparently there's another Eschaton born in 1981) if any of you nubs wanna add me.

Maybe it's just me because I've been hyping this game to myself for so long or maybe the beta is just a poor method to judge this game but I'm not all that impressed with the game so far. Anyone else with me?

I'm sure I'll still play it for many hours like I did Diablo 2, I think I was just expecting more.

Rinualdo

FWIW, before the open beta, there was no lag at all in closed beta.

Eh, it's a pretty limited amount of content. I haven't played in quite a while, but I think the level cap was 12 or so, with only one difficulty level on what I assume is only the first part of Act I. The spell tuning and whatnot seemed pretty off-balance at the time, too, so it was hard for me to really get into it myself. I do, however, expect things to be in better shape when it's ready for release.

Yeah, I had no lag when I was trying things out. I know "stress test" has been said here several times, so I'm kinda surprised that people seemed to not expect there to be lag and other issues connecting.

I couldn't put my finger on it but it didn't feel like server lag, felt like computer lag.

Only Blizzard would do a 3 day beta then take the servers down for 24 hours for "maintenance."

I get the same error, but it says servers are busy, try again later.

Server crashing isn't exactly predictable. They fixed it quickly, it's just that now too many people are trying to log in.

Didn't know the server crashed, I just read the news where it said they brought down the servers and are gradually opening up more slots and thought they did all of this on purpose.

Having a great time. Let's you get up to 13 and play that first part of the act.

I'll be excited for the real thing. Not to shabby

I have played through on the mage, barbarian, and Witch Hunter. Barbarian was super ez mode. I found the mage the more annoying.

Tgo01
04-22-2012, 12:26 PM
I've done all but monk, I would have to say the demon hunter and witch doctor were the easiest, I agree the wizard seemed really underpowered, maybe they become more powerful later in the game.

Some Rogue

I've done Barbarian, demon hunter and mage.

Barbarian was really easy. Mage was tough until you get a few levels then I just AoE'd everything down in 1 or 2 hits. I didn't really like the demon hunter much.

Trying a witch doctor next.

TheEschaton

I actually liked the mage the best. I kept ice beam on right click though, to snare everything.

Of course, I was playing mage co-op with Tgo, so maybe that's why it didn't seem too overly hard.

Frost nova with either the arcane orb or the shockwave one took everything down easily too.

Normally a warrior type character is most powerful at the beginning, and a magical dude is most powerful towards the end game....

I have a feeling this is no different in D3

It's true, he let me do all the work while he was busy destroying benches and bookshelves.

Things did get much better with the wizard once you got the arcane orb but you could only cast it three times before running out of whatever resource wizards use. The Demon Hunters piercing shot cost no resources at all and one shotted most everything then most of the time would go on to kill another monster, plus she got invisibility, it was just stupidly easy really.

Witch Doctor is nice because he gets three minions, AOEs plus he can throw a bunch of spiders everywhere.

Edit: Just finished up with the monk. Out of all 5 I don't know which is most powerful but the monk was definitely the most fun to play.

Mage seemed OP to me, one shotting everything...but we have to remember that your skills are all based off your weapon damage so the better the weapon the more easily things will fall.

Done all but finnish up DH and Barb and that's next.

Playing a monk. Dual wielding a club and a knife in a loincloth. Its cool.

This game is nice to look at. The artwork and design are well done. It plays smooth. Easy interface. Has a nice dungeon crawl feel to it.

But nothing groundbreaking. No "neat-o" factor. Same old swords and sorcery genre.

Cool the beta is open apparently until the release date for those who already signed up, I might just finish up all of those achievements after all. For what purpose? Because I can.

Oh neat, I need to decide who the be for hardcore mode. That'll let me play all the classes.
