I'm asking for a friend of mine. My rogue is nowhere near this level in LM so I'm not intimately familiar with it. The system is set to auto extract.

You don't always extract each disarm? Are we doing something wrong here? This trap didn't get us a rep.

.

You have 46 ranks in the Lock Mastery skill.
You need 21 training points to earn your next rank.
The Training Administrator told you to extract some vials from stun clouds or fire traps.
You have 1 repetition remaining for this task.

.

Looking closely into the keyhole of the lock, you spy a small vial of fire-red liquid and a tiny hammer device which seems poised to shatter it if the lock is tampered with.

It looks like a fairly simple trap (-90).

You still have a good enough picture of the trap in your mind, that you could try to disarm it.

Nope. Extracting is random, but I remember the GMs (I think it was Ildran) saying that the higher the endroll, the better chance of extracting.

Extraction is not automatic and is pretty hit or miss (I've done a dozen or so -100 traps without extraction and then nailed it on a -350 trap for the rep). Though, the number of LM ranks you have are a factor. Gib has stated this and I've definitely seen an increase (albeit qualitative) in my ability to extract traps that I've known how to extract longer. I suppose this is mostly a factor in the trap-saving game. Used the jaws and needles for generic extraction reps as much as you can. But yeah, extraction is a check with a roll of some kind.

Okay, thanks guys :)

We've been stuck on this rep for a really long time. Meh.

It never hurts to type LM DISARM ON to make sure you're even attempting to extract.

Otherwise, I agree with Da Captn' Trap extraction is the absolute WORST part of training up LM. Once you get past those reps..... it's the home stretch you can pretty much rip through if you have boxes to pick.

LOG:

>Having discovered a trap on the chest you begin to carefully attempt to disarm it...

Something just went awry! Luckily, you were able to salvage the attempt.

Using the pair of metal grips, you manage to pull out the two pins that hold the upper and lower jaw pieces together.
Using your metal grips, you carefully remove a pair of small steel jaws from the gold chest before piecing the apparatus back together.

Roundtime: 12 sec.

Yea, that's right...

Listening to you on lnet is painful. You're exactly the kind of person who has a stroke before 50. Have fun being a red faced douchebag though

Sign your neg rep ya fucking coward.

If you don't like me on LNet, you're probably one of the lazy ignorant people I tend to hate... get a fucking clue.
