OK... so... this has been discussed, but this time it's for real. Maryland RenFest... how many people would be interested in attending such a gathering?
I'm going, whether YOU guys come or not, but I'm wondering what sort of -real- interest there would be in such a thing.

Eesh. Well, I'm saying, maybe someone out there wants to come, and you could hitch a ride. Offer them oral sex. That usually works.

LOL. Shes back and in such good form. Nice.
I'll do this thing. Hope it dosen't scare anyone else away. I totally dig meeting the people behind the screen in person.
Maryland Renaissance Festival is an absolute blast. Sorry Artha, there is no way in hell I'm driving to this one.

Backlash, do you have any details on when it's going on?

I'm already heading to the Virginia/DC area the first week of July, so I won't be able to do another hike down there after that. I'd love to go, though.
Betheny
06-27-2004, 04:55 PM
Dunno if it's going on the first week of July... that's kind of short notice too, but if you're interested in hanging out, let me know. I'm really not all that bad in person. Unless you tease me with candy. Or cookies. Or... other unnameable things.

Enjoy the fireworks, CT. I'm headed to Georgia for the same week myself ;)
August 28, 29; September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26; October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 / 2004. Plenty of dates to choose from.
I say Oct. 3rd, but I'm biased because thats my birthday. I'll concede that date, however, to accomodate the potential crew.
CrystalTears

Actually it's the week after. 5th-11th. Heading down the 8th and only staying through the weekend, mostly to see his parents and one of my really good online friends from GS. Not sure if we'll have time for much else.
Still gotta deal with the crappy CT fireworks. :D

My mom's coming in from MN on the 6th.
The 23rd would be better because it's my birthday, and my birthday is obviously superior to yours.
No, actually, we should do it sooner than then, because I know some people actually have to go to school and stuff. If they're even interested in coming.

Sounds good. Just so everyone knows, I will not be dressing up, and, MD is hot and humid that time of year. Dress accordingly. The skimpier the better.

Can you ride the metro to a meeting point or something?

Easily. Just name a time and a place.

I don't drive either, I"m sure someone will pick us up. As long as you're not afraid to meet me in a dark subway tunnel.
/snicker
Well, let's decide on a date. I think early august would be good. I don't have a calendar, but I get all government holidays off, so a 3-day weekend would be awesome.
The Korean
06-27-2004, 08:51 PM
If I can walk outside base into Anacostia, I can meet you in a dark subway tunnel.
Anytime in August is good for me, as long as we decide on a date by July 15th.
Betheny
06-28-2004, 02:09 PM
OK, I'll give you guys 2 dates and you decide which one's the best.
July 31st (sat), august 1st (sun), or... we could wait until September 4th/5th/6th (labor day)... some of us have 3day weekends then.
The sooner the better, I think.
Also, I'll have money then (I'm so strategic.)

I'm game.
We can do one of a few things.
I'm leaning towards getting together with whoever's game hanging out on Saturday evening (assuming they don't have a massive drive) and then Sunday doing the fair.

Trying to pull a marathon weekend, eh? I have to work Monday! Hmm, like thats ever stopped me.
That weekend sounds good to me.
Heard Tamral had a good turnout. Sorry I missed it.
Bringing this back up because, well, its right around the frigging corner. Next weekend is tough. I'm leaning towards Labor Day weekend so the transition back into the new week will be easy.
Tickets in are cheap, so we might think about renting a couple of rooms and terrorize the locals.
Hows about it?
Betheny

Awesome idea.
The idea of driving home sucks.
Do it to it, people -- Let's get our core group together and get some rooms rented while they're still cheap!
Instead of doing headcount here, let's make confirmations by email, because I hate digging through the boards for info.
My email is bschoenborn@verizon.net.
To reiterate, we're shooting for labor day weekend. I'm also trying to put together an e-mail listing of people in the area so we can keep these people updated with gatherings and stuff. If you want in, pop me an email.
Ok, two double double-bed smoking rooms reserved at Comfort Inn Conference Center (http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=Typ&tuid=F-YTR0020322827&ck=3177803945&tab=B2C&tcat=7737307&c ity=Laurel&state=MD&uzip=20707&country=us&msa=8840 &cs=4&ed=BZ00La1o2TyExkW9CZkItBTfweCAU0OASwRETpZvS GVE&fb=1&stat=:pos:0:fb:regT:2:fbT:2) in Bowie MD for Saturday the 4th.
Its $25 bones a head with at least 5 people confirmed. We can cancel the reservations the day of the 4th, so no pressure. Just email Maim to confirm (bschoenborn@verizon.net) and get a bed. Otherwise we'll let some people sleep on the floor, or, call and make more reservations if there are a larger number of you interested. We could probably get away with 6-8 per room, but I'd rather not push it. Oh, and rooms are going fast. We were lucky to get these.
We'll meet at the Comfort Inn the morning of the 4th, lets say around 11am. More details to follow as this plays out.
Address: 4500 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20716
Phone: 301-464-0089
Here is a link to the Maryland Renaissance Festival! (http://www.rennfest.com/mrf/
) We intend to see shows, like jousting and Shakespearian shows, along with browsing the goods, and drinking in the pubs. Its going to be a blast. You want to come. You do. You really really do...

Amtrak out of Union Station will get you to Maryland in three hours. Plus, you don’t have to drive, so you can cruise the cars and have cocktails.
Only big problem is the $150 round-trip ticket.
Oh, and anyone who comes up to the Maryland side of the Metro can get a ride to the hotel and the Fest and back as long as its going back Sunday morning because I ain’t driving Saturday night.

Change in plan. No more motel rooms. My folks are away this weekend so we can stay at their place. Pool, pinball machine, widescreen projector with kick-ass surround sound and plenty of space.
Come to Maryland for the Fest this Saturday the 4th. Directions provided to those who personally U2U me or email Maimara.
PS. Oh yeah, if anything gets broke, or someone acts up, they get it back, in a hard way.

Heh, its when two men grab each of your legs and hang you upside down as you drink from a small hose attached to a funnel full of beer. Or the tap.
Men are the originators of this and have the upper body strength to pull it off. Though I can’t imagine how the tradition started.
