View Full Version : Coffee Drinks/Morning Beverages
I have a coffee maker in the bedroom. Laziness? Efficiency? I usually brew 2-3 cups of a Spanish french roast to start up my day.
When I buy a beverage lately is Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Chai. Tastes a little like Thanksgiving and I like the texture. I also like their hot Carmel Lattes. I consider these "treats" and get maybe two or three a week in the afternoons.
Ocean Spray makes a Cran-Energy juice that I like. Has all the vitamins, C, B12, D, plus some green tea.
What do you drink when you get up to start your day? What do you order when you hit the coffee shops?

1 cup of foldgers, black.
Water the rest of the day.
You're a fucking hipster.
A shot of Cuban espresso (made at home) to start and then water the rest of the day. I'm not a morning person and it takes a little something extra for me to be able to fake it at work.

1 cup of coffee to wake up. Dunkin Donuts coffee on way to work.
Water and Propel Zero rest of day.
Hipsters drink PBR first thing in the morning so they dont get stressed out picking up their welfare check in the black neighborhood they moved into ironically.
Umm Same as anticor except + cream and sugar and I have one of those gigantic travel cups so by the time I get to work im having a mini-seizure.

Iced Tea. (no sugar)
A Cherry Coke.

Juice (actually "diet" juice, so it's cranberry-flavored water) with whatever I'm eating for breakfast on my way to work, then coffee when I get here. There's no way I'm paying money to brew close-but-not-quite-right coffee at home, when we have all the equipment/beans straight from DD distribution centers here. I usually end up with 3 cups or so throughout the day. Mostly water/iced tea otherwise, and a can of some variety of diet soda with dinner. The water-to-soda ratio varies a lot depending on how much I care about behaving myself that day.
Also, I disovered that we have a pizza smiley :pizza: It has no purpose for being here, other than I just found it and thought it was awesome. :pizza:

When I DID drink coffee I loved our Keurig. I'd buy the Newman's Own Extra Bold. Now I have a Taste Nirvana Coconut water and a Bumblebar for brekkie. Delicious.
1 cup of foldgers, black.
Water the rest of the day.

Whatever the hell is in the big mix sample boxes I buy for my Keurig. It's like roulette in that I just reach in, pull one out, and that's what I have. I drink it black, and if I didn't I'm sure the ghost of my grandfather would haunt me.
At night I drink a sleep blend tea with chamomile and lavender in it. I don't think it actually does jack shit since I still have insomnia on the regular, but it is pretty tasty.

evening, tea, either regular liptons, green, jasmine or herbal

I wrote a long response to this, submitted it and got a database error so fuck man.
Tuesday and Wednesday I drink a small coffee (green mountain shit) with half a packet of sugar.
If I'm treating myself, usually on a friday, I'll get a caramel latte from D&D, but lately they've been not putting in the caramel syrup which pisses me off man.

I was drinking mainly green tea for a while but then something stressed me out and I went back to coffee. Then I was drinking like...8-12 cups of coffee from morning on. Black...fell back into the habit from the army.
I just had a doctor dropped in my lap that was adamant about me kicking it and going back to Green Tea so I figured I'd listen.
So now, green tea or water, sometimes a little OJ.

I drink several cups of coffee a day, though I vary between regular coffee (World Market's various brands, usually -- the Kona is decent, as is the Peruvian) and espresso drinks. I have my own espresso machine with a stock of syrups and flavors, and I tend to make a latte every day or two. More often, though, it's just four shots of straight espresso. I alternate with huge quantities of water.

Twinings Lady Grey. Sometimes I go for the hard stuff and drink Bigelows Plantation Mint. No sweetener.

I used to make cappuccino on a daily basis in a Francis Francis machine that I loved. But eventually all that caffeine started to bother me so I switched to tea. Then I went to a Paleo diet and find I don't crash nearly as much, so I don't need an after lunch caffeine hit. Much more stable energy levels without giant carbo loads at meals.

Also, as a side note, Kuerig has to have one of the best customer service departments in existence. My Kuerig had an issue with the water reservoir leaking. Boom, new kuerig on my doorstep via UPS. They just wanted me to send back the old one.
Then I placed an order a couple of months ago for about fifty bucks worth of various coffees from their website but when I checked the FedEx tracking it showed as delivered, even though I hadn't received it. Sent an email to Kuerig and boom, order resent right away. Of course the original shipment shows up the day after I notified them so I told them to go ahead and charge me for the replacement shipment because it's not like I wouldn't use the coffee but they didn't. The lady said it was a freebie for the hassle.

It's called tealuxe, you can actually order from them online. I like their Buckingham Palace Garden Party blend.. monocle not included!
Sometimes black coffee.
Sometimes off-brand caffeine pills which are a much cheaper source of caffeine.
Gallon or so of water.
Vegetables.

There definitely needs to be some sort of hose attachment from the keurig to the water pipe under the faucet, removing the need to refill the reservoir.

Weekdays:
If I'm running on little to no sleep, a cup of coffee brewed at home (Folgers or Maxwell House, mixed with flavored creamer) in the morning, usually followed by water through the rest of the day. Unless I need another caffeine hit, when I get a (free) Pepsi from the bowling alley next door. Or if the office is a damn icebox AGAIN, when I brew up a mug or 3 of tea.
Weekends:
Big mug of coffee in the morning, sometimes more during the day. The rest of my liquid intake depends on what we're doing during the day.
I'm trying to drink a lot more water, I can feel the difference when that's my primary beverage. I just need to find another water bottle like the one my boss bought me for my birthday, I love that thing.

Gotta agree. My Keurig died on me and I expected a hassle from customer service. They made me eat my words. I was on the phone for maybe ten minutes tops, and had a new keurig at my doorstep within a couple days. Was about as hassle-free of a customer service experience as I have ever had.

I usually have a couple cups of Tully's Kona Blend when I get up but I've got every variety other than the Kona I'm not sure I've settled on a favorite yet.
I've just got a case of Revv like last week but haven't tried it yet. This thread reminded me to.

8 O'Clock Coffee every day. Unless I'm feeling like a snooty coffee in which case I'll have a double shot mocha.
Water.

I went caffeine free for a while and noticed that while there is a mild addiction its nothing serious. I've heard about people who claim they are heavily addicted complain about "caffeine free" headaches and grouchiness. Maybe because I've abused my central nervous system so much that it does not affect me that adversely.
My time being caffeine free had no real benefit. I still spent money on things to drink, I had no trouble waking up and was not overly tired during the day... and I was depriving myself of the wonderfulness that is the aromatically earthy coffee bean in all its delicious concoctions.
Plus I've heard the health benefits are that people who drink caffeinated beverages are more likely to lose and keep off extra weight, increased cognitive function, and it aids in liver tissue and function repair.
Seems to me people are better off drinking coffee and tea, nature's products, than not.

I've gone through several different varieties of caffeine addiction. I used to drink a lot of coffee, but I noticed if I didn't get my coffee for whatever reason I would get a headache, because of that I went caffeine free and rid myself of it, when the headaches were gone I'd go back to having the occasional coffee.
Then I started taking daily red bulls pre-workout, which evolved into daily 5 hour energies, this was one of the worst, as it would make me addicted to caffeine and it massively dehydrated me.
Right now I drink the occasional Monster zero if I'm feeling sluggish and need to get amped up, and the occasional morning coffee/mid-day iced coffee sorta thing.
Other than that it's all watered down cranberry juice, water, and sometimes an Arizona Arnold Palmer.

What's with the cranberry kick?
I dunno, I've been doing this for maybe 5 years or so, saw the diet juice had big letters "1/3rd the calories!" so I just put 1/3rd the juice and the rest water and it just tastes better, not as tart or sweet. I've since moved more to 1/4 juice.
I'm drinking cranberry right now, but cranras and crangrape are in my rotation as well. Rarely cranapple.
Really it has more to do with avoiding soda, since I have a tendency to just slug them down if I've got them, I do drink a lot of water, but if I've got it, I'll drink juice.
What are they, on their periods or something?
Knew this was coming. It's a natural diuretic.
Why am I writing so much about juice.

I was just curious is all. I love cranberry juice it's my favorite juice!
But I like the tartness so I wouldn't want to dilute that. I get a cranberry slush from sonic like every other day too.
What are they, on their periods or something?
I’d recommend Guinness instead. Plenty of iron and a slight buzz to mellow the nerves.

Mt. Dew if I am feeling insane about life in general. No, not diet, not sugar free, just the regular, eat-my-teeth Mt. Dew. Then I drink water for about a month.
