Is it known that open-hand casting makes 302 alot more effective? It does...having a brawling cleric is fun.

One hand open is good, two hands is better. :) Stance affects the flares, as well.

It's nice. It also seems like there's a huge increase in the instant death and in infusing mana. I've managed to infuse twice in a row multiple times today.

I do t hat every once in a while.

I find that if you use 313, and especially if you've got a bard singing Lucksong with you, it tends to up your instant-kill rate significantly.

anyone seen the difference between holding a shield vs holding a weapon doing open handed casting? havent tried this yet....

I didn't notice any difference with casting with a shield or without. Are you sure there is a difference between casting that way?

I know stance affects it. I know open right handed does as well...

Show us some logs. I'll do some research tomorrow when I get back with my cleric.

I'll give it a try today when I go hunting. The difference is in the endroll and the damage done. I'll try and find some fairly comparable ones, but I'm what you would call 'mechanics stupid'. I seemed to notice a difference, but it could've just been wishful thinking.

I don't think I ever wrote a script with MATCHes except the script I made to count kills.

All most matches do when you're going offensive, casting, etc. is endanger your life.

If I get hung up because I have the spell already prepped, if I get hung up for whatever reason, it would mean taking one of those nice massive stone mattocks to the face.

Infusing doesn't count, I'm talking about non-infused casts on a creature that's near your age. As in -- if it works, it's worth the risk to use to hunt regularly.

ok stupid question... I know the max bonus you get on 425 and 430 end at 475 as far as spell training is concerned.... does 375 cap out 302 as well?

375 cap out 302?
302 is a attack spell
currently spells like 303 are not capped but open, 2 ranks for 1 ds i believe
but i could be wrong

You have to use channel to get any kind of bonus from OHC. I'm fairly certain that applies to all spells that were previously OHC cast in just a more offensive stance (302, 702, 1106 etc). Also the left hand is now no longer penalized for being the open hand so if you have your shield stowed and use your left hand and weapon, it should be just as effective as using a shield and your right hand open. The CHANNEL verb also gives you 3 seconds of HARD rt to prevent the abuse of using a script or macro that was occuring (not that i really think it was a big deal). You must use CHANNEL to recieve the OHC bonus to the aforementioned spells now. There's a few posts in the Sorcerer folder, and probably an announcement or two on the official boards you can check out.

Thats nice, but does 302 get a power cap that is gained by training in the 300's at 375 like 425 and 430 do....

Your question doesn't really make sense, Reyek.

302 is a CS spell. Training in the 300's list boosts up your CS.

425 and 430 are enchancer spells that are capped at the 75th rank.

Like any other CS spell, the more you train in the circle, the higher your CS will go.

Question makes sense to me... lets see if i can clarify...
Ok 425 is a spell that gives a max bonus at spell rank 475. Same with 430 which also gives a max bonus at 475. 425 gives a bonus to your AS and your CS. 430 just to your DS, so for this matter it applies only to the fact that it is capped at 475.

Now lets take 302. 302 is a CS based spell. the more you have in the 300 circle gives you higher CS. Does that bonus end after you hit 375, or if you continue to train in it up to 399. Will you continue to get a bonus in your CS after 375?

Dont know how much plainly you can put it....

302 doesn't cap anywhere. I have 156 cleric spells. Every few spells I train, I get another CS.

ill say it this way
302 is not capped at anything since it is not a CS boosting spell. The more you train the higher it goes, as you train in extra amounts the return is lower like with any spell circle

any more than 20 ranks over your level in cleric doesn't give much of a return...it's best to be 20 ranks over, then 2/3 your level in the rest of your circles...i think
