AION, V2

In a push to get a larger active player base AION is going to be free to play as of April 11th. I really enjoyed this game when it first came out but then dropped it because of time constraints. Being a casual player myself, I really like this idea. I can let an account sit idle guilt-free. I can't find the original thread about this game but does anyone here still play this?

Apparently it will be a no strings deal, no constraints on zones or chat channels or anything either. They will make money from selling virtual items in their online store. No idea what those new items will include; now it's companion pets, item skins, and dye items mostly.

I sold my account long ago. This game was doomed from the start since NCSucks didn't bother to fully flesh out the Asmos like they did the Elyos. Was unbalanced from the beginning.

I think they are making strides in the right direction, you should give it another shot. I made a templar named Flamingo that looks like a lawn ornament flamingo: super long skinny legs, huge schnoz, shocking pink hair.

I was playing it for a while when it first came out. Then I went back to GS. I was just thinking about playing it again a few days ago. Now I might have to try it out.

Its an mmo but instead of mounts you have wings which includes air combat. You are a Daeva which is basically an angel and at level 10 you get you ascend (get your wings). I played for a few months after release and only made it to level 30 thanks to he grindy nature of asian games.

Also I got into the TERA beta this weekend. Not sure I need another sub-based MMO in my rotation, but having lots of Korean guildies apparently gets you into anime based MMO betas.

Everything about GW2 rules. Although, I probably get the biggest girl boner from the crafting. I'm obsessed with crafting in every game, and this one sounds so sweet. Nodes that are on your own timer and you don't have to fight bots and douches (or be a douche) for them? No gathering ranks? No crits? No waiting 20 minutes for 100 tin bars to craft? No buying tons of recipes... putting shit together and seeing what you get instead? SCHAWING

Those with the Fenris set and the Elyos equiv enjoyed a marked advantage over those who did not ... with the last piece of the set being the weapon.

The top-quality PvP is a long and difficult grind to get (due to the ranking system), and generally distinguishes the players from those without them.

So a situation where impulses teenagers with parents' CCs can just sit down and start with a high-quality weapon from the start, with zero effort can only injure game/PvP balance (Aion's PvP system was not well designed, but *everyone* had to put in some degree of effort to be more viable).

Then it implies that others will need to do the same, to remain competitive in PvP ... and thereby it turns into PTW.

You are one enormous pussy. Seriously, dude, take a breath. There is nothing (including the weapon you mentioned earlier) for sale that is so uber that it drastically unhinges game balance.
