>prep 225
You trace a sign while petitioning the spirits to bestow their aid with the Transference spell...
Your spell is ready.
>cast at cera
You gesture into the air.
A silvery fog envelops you. You feel a sudden lurching motion, and as the fog dissipates you see...
[Sea Cave, Stone Forest]
This narrow pathway leads you away from the underground river through a grey forest of stone that is eerily quiet. Towering stalagmites reach upward toward the high ceiling, and an acrid tang taints the air. You also see the sparkling Withers disk.
Also here: Withers, Lady Chalica
Obvious exits: east, southwest
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
>
Chalica turns to face you.
>scratch my head
You scratch your head.

.

It happened to Chalica too, her first fog in fact. I'm pretty sure this is the first time it's EVER happened to me.

Anyone else have it happen to them?

I found this wtf funny. Maybe there's some kind of character ID attached to every character that goes into a lookup table and hers just happened to be replicated? no clue personally.

I found this wtf funny. It's rare for me to sit here not reacting for a bit because I'm trying to comprehend what just happened.. after the initial surprise wore off, I did find it pretty funny too :D

I think what happens is that whenever you refer to a character, it looks up the name globally (amongst all characters logged in) and does a LIFO (or FIFO) selection. So if there's another character who has logged in after (or before) the one you're referring to but has a similar name, they get selected and they're not a valid target. My guess is based on the following: whenever I use a command that interacts with a character (say GIVE) and it can't find a valid player target despite my abbreviation being valid (and working at other times for that same character), I ALWAYS find another character in the WHO listing that shares the abbreviation.

Would this sort of result be expected from using 225 with a target in another realm? If so, I'd suspect that it's the same effect.

Character IDs should be static. Pretty sure that's what allows things like that giftbox enhancive re-roll trick (roll a profession with an enhancive you want, claim the giftbox, reroll as the profession you want to use it with).

Chalica posted on the officials and this was a response to it.

.

This bug has shown up before. It's not a bug with 225, it's a bug with cast AT.

The game interprets AT as WITH. So what the game was seeing was prep 225, cast WITH.

Just don't use cast at with 225. Cast at tries to target people in your room anyway, and you don't want that when casting 225 in the first place.

I've had this problem before, but it has always involved a character with a name that started with AT.

I've never used AT when casting... Ever.
