Hi all,

I'm not really a mechanical 'type' person, I did some searching in krakiipedia but turn out fruitless. I was just wondering if by casting 402, does it helps in disarming traps? what about picking locks with 402?

I've seen postings here that with someone casting 205, making the room brighter, it actually helps in disarming & picking the locks. How true is that? & how much does it actually helps?

And also in the past, more than 10 years back, I was a young lad back then, I've seen old rogues kneel down, remove their crystal amulet to take away the amunet thoughts to disarm & picks, does it really helps?

Hope someone here can help clear my queries...
Thanks in advance

402 helps with detecting traps (as the skill check involves both perception and disarm) but not disarming them.

Room lighting does result in a bonus/penalty. I don't know how much. A wild estimate would be somewhere around +/-20. It's not a whole lot.

Kneeling/sitting/standing has no impact on the pick/disarm check.

Having the thought network active, whether by crystal amulet or society ability, no longer affects the outcome of these checks (but did at one time).

Room conditions (lighting, fog or lack thereof) only affect disarming. It has no influence at all on picking. :welcome:

What about calm? I remember casting calm on people disarming difficult traps, is it of any benefit?

Can a non rogue tell what the room conditions are, or is that a rogue only skill? My warrior disarms and isn't the greatest at it so I'll take any help he can get.

Only a rogue thru Lock Mastery.

Some rooms though are always the same condition, unless someone casts light/dark/fog in it etc
