Alrighty, I've played a rogue, picking boxes, for several years now. Never, in all my years, have I seen this trying to pick a box.

>pick right
You settle into the difficult task of picking the lock.
You make an adequate attempt (d100=59).
Roundtime: 13 sec.
>

No, "you suck too much to get a read" message or nothing. Any opinions or ridicule? How the hell do I alter my script to wedge a box like this?

I could easily wedge the box open, but my script has is set to check for success or failure, not limbo. I could set my my script to matchwait Roundtime: and wedge it, but if I did that, something would go wrong with matchwaits and I'd wedge a scale trap box. That's just how my luck goes.

Well a false alarm wedging that ends badly is up to you. You need to have a separate picking routine for scales traps if you want to do this sort of thing.

Why don't you just use matchtimeout?

testvar = matchtimeout(0.25,/click|no lock to measure|bending the tip|snap|etc/i)
if testvar =~ /click/i then ...
elsif ...
else echo "This is a freaky box, bro!"
end
