Is this the release date or is it a Blizzard release date? Unfortunately the two aren't the same.

This is via Blizzard. You can officially purchase pre-orders directly from them for their date. It could theoretically be pushed back, but I doubt it will. They already cut some stuff they didn't think was ready (PvP) so it can be patched in later. If they're willing to do that, they will make their deadline.

Take that with a grain of salt. Leading up to the launch of D2 there were a bunch of awesome features that were cut "to be included at a later date" that never showed up.

It is entirely possible. Luckily, I don't give a shit about PvP so either way i'm in the clear.

This^ glad they cut this out so they can actually release the game instead of waiting till Xmas to put the full game out.

I forgot, does this game have a monthly subscription?
If so, what the hell is it for, since afaik, it seems like the game is kind of single player with the option to party with friends and buy via a server-based AH?
If it doesn't have a sub, I might bite the bullet for the year pass, now that Blizz has announced an end date on that.

I believe there is no subscription. I read an interview by the lead game guru a bit back where he was talking about how D3 shouldn't have one and they were designing it that way.

I don't think it has a monthly subscription, I can't possibly imagine what for. As much as I loved Diablo 2 there is no way in hell I would have paid a monthly fee for it, as far as I'm aware Diablo 3 is just more of the same.

Confirmation would be golden before I buy a year long pass to WoW (even though, let's face it, I'll be playing WoW for a year more).

There is no subscription cost for battlenet. If you want to use the auction house and sell items for $USD then I think you may need to link a credit card, not entirely sure on that.

But how long did you play it when you were hooked?
I'm still enjoying the shit out of WoW if nothing else for getting on vent, making fun of people while we kill shit.

I'd probably still be playing GS if there was a vent associated with it when I played.

Read lnet for a day and then decide if you'd still like what you asked for.

GS? A long time, but always like 1 year increments... then I got bored/fed up with GM's and ragequit (only to come back and repeat)

2 months is gonna be a long wait for those who have already cleared Heroic DS in WoW.

Except in 2 months I probably still won't have all my drops in H-DS.

Good thing you still have regular gunship to get through first.

What'll be the point? It will all be obsolete if you end up playing MoP.

Excellent observation Atlanteax, since everything evolves and nothing lasts forever you might as well just lay down now and die right now instead of trying to improve in/at anything.
I mean I know that when I look at golf clubs there is a good chance next season will bring new ones so I don't buy any now (what's the point right they'll just be obsolete when the new ones come out) so I just hit at the ball with a thin piece of crown molding and I put with a paint stir stick.

There is a difference between "obsolete in a year" and "obsolete in a few months".
The reward for progression was no longer there for me since mid-Jan, so I am happily playing other games instead.
Personally I wish D3 was being released sooner than later, but Activision is clearly more interested in trying to milk out another two months of WoW subscriptions that likely will be suspended when people switch to playing D3 (particularly for those who are 'only playing WoW while waiting for D3').
Yes clearly their delaying a wind fall of 10's of millions of dollars to milk 15 bucks out of the small percentage of people who will cancel their WoW account to play another blizzard product. The CEO of activision is an evil incompetent monster.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. Blizzard is notorious for holding back their games until they consider them to be as polished as possible.

Wow will still have 10m+ paying accounts when D3 arrives and after, especially with the expansion coming. I promise they aren't trying to milk anything. They won't be hurting for customers, unlike some companies around here....

Kinda blows for me.. as I will be spending 2 weeks watching my nieces and nephews while one of them gets his heart surgery.
Hmm... I may just have to bribe them so I have like 8 hours of gaming time each day..
Frankly.. this year seems like it's going to be great for Video games really. Decently spaced apart even.

Blizzard yes, but Activision runs the show now.
