It’s been about 15 years since I played a cleric. I brought back my Halfling a few days ago.

Back then we did not have the option to convert and follow a certain god. I’m a little confused about this. I have not converted yet.

Is the only difference in gods the smite versus bane thing? Is it only spell 302that is affected by this choice?

Are there any other reasons to choose a certain god, other than RP reasons?

The Halfling is in Voln, but I may change that.

When I cast 302 on the living, it doesn’t work. When I cast it on the dead, it seems to work like it should. Does this sound right even though I have not converted? If I convert to bane, will 302 work on the living?

You get different flares on divine fury depending on what god you choose.

Is the only difference in gods the smite versus bane thing? Is it only spell 302 that is affected by this choice?..and spells 319/330 I think. It's been a while since I've played so my memory is starting to get hazy. I know that you're forced to kneel with 319 if you're unaligned/other, but it's hardly a main use spell so it's not really annoying.

Are there any other reasons to choose a certain god, other than RP reasons?I resisted converting for an EXTREMELY long time and had no issues. Base your decision on RP reasons. See my note below about 302 on the living...

When I cast 302 on the living, it doesn’t work. When I cast it on the dead, it seems to work like it should. Does this sound right even though I have not converted? If I convert to bane, will 302 work on the living?Yes, everything about this quote is correct. This is how it works...

UNALIGNED / OTHER -- 302 is full power on the undead, but doesn't work on the living

SMITE -- 302 is full power on the undead, and half power on the living

BANE -- 302 is half power on the undead, and full power on the living

You can easily get to 100 without converting. There's no more undead gap. IMO, the ability to cast 302 on the living is really only helpful at low levels.
