Haven't seen a thread on this yet. It's all over faebook. It's worth the watch:

The video has a point; I've never heard of this guy at all before. Not sure if I'd donate, but I'll definitely spread the word.

Invisible Children is barely a charity. Approx 31% of the money donated is actually allocated for charity. The money that was "spent" for their film has not been accounted for and is oddly high for the type of film. Regardless of how you feel about invading yet another Northern African country, a charity that is lining the pockets of people is really sad.

I grew up with the Russell family here in San Diego. I always thought Jason Russell was gay...

Kony 2012 filmmaker was taken into custody after he was found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/envoy/kony-2012-filmmaker-arrested-san-diego-205649394.html)

It's the small one to the upper right of the big one in the center (which is the Congo, whatever name it's going by right now).

But then again, I've been to Uganda, so that doesn't count.

I think the best thing about the KONY event is that it clearly demonstrates how powerful social media is on getting topics to spread quickly/efficiently.

Going from nobody knowing to 80+ million views + all the discussions on various news/online areas in a week or two really is powerful.

Once companies [Like KONY], political parties, and corporations successfully tap into this.. oof, the world will be changing quicker than ever, IMO.

I don't know if that is necessarily true. The more it is used/abused, the more desensitized we'll become to it. How many 40 minute heart tugging videos can you endure before you just hear noise?
