Hello.
Returning player after a very long break. I've never played an empath before, so in addition to getting used to all the changes since GS3, I'm trying a new class. I'll have more questions as I go, particularly when my 30 days are nearing their end, but I've done a lot of reading so am feeling somewhat knowledgeable.
For now, here's my question:
Transformation's only purpose is to decrease healing RT, correct? If I master Sunfist, I could use that one sigil to eat herbs in just three seconds. If I'm planning on being a caster first and healer second, is that "good enough"? Does anyone actually just rely on herbs, to save all that training on Transformation?
I feel like there must be some obvious major downside that I don't see.
Edit: Oh, also! How do people heal SO fast? Is there a way to decrease the RT with the "transfer player any" command with training? Some kind of script I can run? I've only ever used scripts for traveling from town to town.

Being an empath and relying on herbs may be easier in early levels. The RT on healing will decrease as you level up naturally (or it may be through empath ranks).
There are scripts that let you heal people, yeah. Mine is kinda an outdated mess or I'd post it.

I believe that the transfer any command gives reduced xp for healing. I'm sure there are healing scripts on the repo you could use, but if you're using SF I believe appraise will open a window with clickable wounds you can use to transfer.

Reducing healing RT is the main benefit of transformation lore, but there are others. At ranks of multiples of 50, you get additional uses of regeneration per day, which is very nice to have in case of emergencies. It also boosts the bolt DF for empathic assault and the HP regen bonus of troll's blood.

It depends largely on your level and empath skill ranks. At cap, you'll need around that much, maybe 57 ranks, to remove all healing RT. Before then, you'll need more. Every 3 ranks of transformation will remove 1 second of healing RT.

Thanks for the info Gretchen...
My empath is casting 1115 with a CS of 467, @ 96 training i do not have any capped character & have never venture out of wehnimer landing, been learning through bounties & healings, was thinking of heading to isle & start some hunting once cap, is it possible without spell aiming, just base on the casting strength to solo hunt in the temple in isle?

Your CS is pretty good and you should do decently in Nelemar for that. I'd highly suggest getting 50 ranks of swimming to get there, and stay to the third floor at least until you get comfortable. Not having spell aim may hurt against radicals.
In Nelemar, I used different spells for different targets. Sirens and executioners got bone shatter for the easy stun. Combatants don't stun but are crittable, and took shots of wither to the face. Radicals have a decently high TD and could be skinned, so I used web bolt + 1110 on them. Defenders are noncorp and got ignored entirely.

57 is correct for cap. I got it to 0 at around level 80 with 75 or so ranks.

I was able to get in Nelemar with around 30 ranks of swimming. 50 is okay, but I believe more to be necessary to defend against the drowning attacks.
