Swimming into the Monastery

Anyone know roughly how many ranks to make it through? I have 8 and have not been able to make it once after several attempts.

I have 40 ranks and I still fumble swimming in.
However that is swimming in with half-plate on. It's a very difficult swim for the hunting grounds behind it.
If you can't make the swim, try getting someone else to set a few rings behind the door so that you don't have to make the swim yourself.

I was able to swim it with 15-20 ranks of swimming, with leather on (or without any heavier armor being worn).

This swim is ALL about encumbrance. I don't even know if it tests for swimming skill, as my crappy low skill characters can do it, but Rencelas couldn't do it with 50 ranks swimming while heavily encumbered.

What is the deal with the door, however? My dwarf empath can't fit (yeah, he's probably fairly round) while my Aelotoian sorcerer has no problem squeezing through (I think that's how it worked).

Are you talking about the door right at the beginning of the monastery or the door into the chapel? I just use unlock on the first set of doors but I don't know how to get in the chapel potion of the monastery :(

Lay down then swim.

You're wearing Water Walking. Stop 112 then try again. Laying down is a good idea too.

Are we talking about the moon? If so I've been told there is a hard coded limit of 12 or 13 swim ranks to get in.

No, specifically don't have water walking, but the one thing I didn't do was "lay down"...nothing inspired the thought even. Thanks much!
